Hi,

Inspired by Alfonso's Midichord module and my needs I decided to create my first ever Modular2 patch. It's a midi chorder as shown on the following pictures:

The routing is ok I belive. Please, observe the 4th to 7th keyZone modules are set to 1 (the lowest available) key. It's because in the preset (Major chord) only the first 3 keyZone modules are necasary and I found this the only method of muting the modules (perhaps there are any other?)

However I encountered some annoying problems:

SP 4.0
After creating the patch I saved it and wanted to remove it from the project - a question appeared 'save the patch as a new device' (again!!!).

Image

I rebooted Sp4 and loaded my patch. I discovered the midi out module showed nothing  (connecting the midi monitor device coonfirmed no midi flow at the patch midi out

SFP 3.1c
I created the same patch from scratch thinking it was the Sp4 bug. And... right after connecting it to a synth (polyphony set to 12) I've heard ONLY one note... I decided to load the patch created in Sp4 and it worked! So I removed the Sp4 patch and loaded the SFP3.1c patch again and... it worked as expected!!!

Back in SP4.0
I loaded the SP4 patch and, of course it had no midi out. I removed it and loaded the SFP3.1c patch and it worked! I removed it and loaded the Sp4 patch again and... it worked (the midi out worked!)

Other annoyeances:
- while removing the SP4 patch I get ALWAYS (no matter I do anything to the patch or don't touch it) the question 'save the patch as a new device'!!!! The question doesn't appear while removing the SFP3.1c patch from within SP4!!!!

Please, help me explaining the phenomenon or it's just a bug :???:

P.S.
I work on a Mac

That's enough!

I decided to create the patch in SFP3.1c (not to allow the device to ask me the annoying question during removing process). I started to create presets and... They behave like they want!!!!! I create 'major' preset, then 'minor' then 'seventh' and after that the major sounds like seventh and the minor sounds like major!!!

How can you create your patches with such stupid bugs??? You are very patient I suppose... I'm not

Uff!

Some thoughts came to my calmed mind.

1. If you can't fight something try to live with it
2. The above helped me to try one more way: to create a mod2 patch from an old mod2 file containing the pre pulsar3 preset system
3. If #2 doesn't work I'll create as much VoyChorder patches as there is (or I can find ) chords. Each containing one preset so there'll be VoyChorder Major, VoyChorder Minor, VoyChorder Seventh etc....

The same symptom.....

As I can see it's the only way.

Hah!

I fouund it out! The cause of the strange behaviour!

First of all sorry the Modular2 creators for my bad wishes

1. The SFP3.1c created patch indeed works strange (I mean the presets work like they want) if working in SP4.0.
2. The SP4 created patch works great but there should be the midi filter module (with the defaul setting of filtering out all system messages) placed right before the patch. Otherwise you get this non working midi output I described earlier.

I think it's because of the active sensing message.

However you have to prepare the presets very precisely. I mean when changing only one setting in a preset you have to change and then rechange almost all other parameters. Strange but it works as expected then.

Once I finish the presets I will publish the patch. I think in 2, 3 hours

Thanks Alfonso for inspiration and for your helping hand

Last observations:

It's the most important thing to have a ready patch before creating presets.

I encountered problems with presets because when I needed an additional module I just added it and then previously created presets misbehavioured. I know it's the first thing to remember now.

here you'll find the final VoyChord patch
