I really wanted the JP-8080 strings so I spent quite a while checking to see if I can do something "similar" on ModIII. Most of it's brute force. Lots of OSC, tried the "pulsarize" module for the first time (works!), distorted highs and mixed that back in.. etc. etc. I even threw in some noise to pull up the highs.

The end result? Well, not too close to JP8080. It does seem to serve a similar musical purpose. Cutting highs, stands out in a mix. Not sure if it has any other uses than epic trance though.

But anyway, here's my tribute to the supersaw pseudo detune. (via "real" detune) Hope you like it.
Has about 10 presets.

Updated with proper presets. (first upload was messed up)

Now available in Mod2 format. The presets were done again from scratch. Well... not quite as edgy as the ModIII version, but similar in concept. Please check it out. (definitely needs more presets) It's got improved Velocity management compared to the ModIII version.

Ken, nice job on the patch! (and thanks for the Mod2 version so I could load it!) I A/B'd it against my JP8000 (same as the JP8080 minus the distortion) and it's close - real close. I looked at your patching and was suprized to see elements like noise sources and pulsemod sources which are present on the JP8000, but not on the Supersaw. The Supersaw is 7 moduated saws for a single OSC, and is combined with the not so standard addition of a Saw Down or Triangle to make that wonderfully huge sound everyone recognises.

I made a patch not long ago based on the Supersaw, and was forced to use your "brute force" method. After hearing your go at it, I was inspired to try a bit harder - the end result was 8 slightly moduating Saw OSC; 4 SawUP & 4 SawDown with 8x Pitchmod, 8x AD Env's, and 2x4 FreqDiv's based off 2 MultiLFO's. I got close (some are dead on) but that patch gets very thick before you know it. I can run 1 voice on a Luna , so I have no idea what it sounds like in poly mode. I'd love to hear what you think of it. All I have to do is figure out how to upload!

8/10 from me, it's great but huge for us little guys!

wait utill you hear my FM approach. It's far too close. If the normal KS-8080 sounded sort of like Access Virus, then the FM approach would sound sort of like Novation. Anyway, it's got much more shimmer and high end. The problem is, my patch file is corrupted and I'm asking creamware for support. Otherwise, I'll just start from scratch.
I'll post a demo tune when the new version is complete.
It will knock you socks and your undies off.
