as we know, the only Scope version to have x64 ASIO driver (the very ASIO interface that DAWs see, not the low-level driver, which is available in x64 for v5 as well) is v7!
but v7 has certain things broken and apart from offering true x64 ASIO and MS-signed driver (which is not essential) has more regression than progression - XTC doesn't work, certain devices cease to work, also it feels like it eats up more dsp / reallocates resources less well.
also, v7 has not fixed garbage-emitting WDM driver input so there is little reason to go for it.
welcome VB-Audio Matrix!
it has some of the functions which Scope had but it didn't work (like soundcard source and destination - which are unusable since win9x or winxp i believe), also it can aggregate several ASIO devices to one and present it under a well-behaving ASIO driver (useful with DAWs which bluescreen or can't see or can't initialise Scope ASIO).
the downside is added latency (at least twice) and some extra CPU resources.
of course it would be better to have a good native Scope ASIO and XTC but we have what we have AND for extra 20€ we can have it sorted to some degree.
it's possible to have Scope plus other cards run under one ASIO driver while having i/o of both cards together and being able to route it inbetween, same for WDM. one can wrap Scope ASIO and have working WDM i/o that way, which is impossible native way.
have a look!
