a violin is certainly not a fiddle, not where samples are concerned anyway....

True, plus the actual playing styles, which is what makes this particular Fiddle instrument unique.
The bowing is done with pattern generators, and thanks to Kontakts custom scripting developers can get really close to instruments nobody dare attempt just a few years ago.

The price is typically cheap as Indiginus is known for price/quality.
He has some excellent Guitars too.

I’ve just recreated every sound in Conway Twitty’s hit “Hello Darlin” which uses strings, fiddles, pedal steel, acoustic/electric guitar and an old Pianet M EPiano.

All I need is a Joe Bob styled singer and I can crank out some old school country stuff.

I don’t particularly care for modern Joe Bob Yodlers and twangers, over southern rock tracks. It’s weak compared to the old soulful C & W stars.

As an EMD, Ambient, prog rock, jazz fusion lover, I can’t explain why the old country stars move me so much, other than the beauty of its simplicity…?

Have you created the track as well ? Nice Pedal Steel on there.

Yes, but actually use a different recording than the link I posted which was the album version.
I’m using a live version but the Pedal Steel player plays the same parts on every recording!
The guy is a monster, and master of that crying/sad/emotional style.

Have the main parts but need more work on the wiggly descending parts.

I’m using old Wavelore Pedal Steel and ISWs most recent Pedal Steel.
Wavelore is releasing a new Pedal Steel any day now and the developer is excited so between the 2 x Pedal Steels I should have some pretty versatile instruments.

Also the Fiddle using Chord Legato portamento can mimic a Pedal Steels glide, but it’s sustain isn’t very long so it has to be used with limitations in mind.

Fun stuff though trying to cop the old school styles and sounds.

Here’s the next one.
It’s a remake of George Jones but much better fidelity, and killer fiddles..

That's cool. Best pop song I've heard slide guitar is the post chorus riff on some recordings of Olivia Newton John's 'Hopelessly Devoted To You' although I suspect some of them are ring slide rather than a slide guitar per se.

My old favs are Crosby Stills Nash & Young’s Teach Your Children Well.

And Top Of The World by the Carpenters.
Which was a combination of a Fender Rhodes (played really well) and a Pedal Steel.

But my best memories of Fiddles and Pedal Steels were when we opened for Greg Allman at the Heritage Festival in NOrleans.
There are so many Cajun child prodigies there.
Sadly they are very religious and avoid the recording industry, but never miss playing the local Festivals.

Best Fiddler I ever heard or saw was a 12 year old Cajun girl, her crazed looking Daddy played Dobro/Slide and other family members played other tradition instruments, but she made me cry she was so good.

I went into the Tavern to grab a beer and accidentally met her Daddy when I supposedly took his seat.
The place was packed but the bar was empty. All I saw were about 20 Giant Bowie Knives stuck into the wood.
Anyways, Daddy came up and explained to me in Cajun Country, the Knife says that’s my seat.

They’re very different in the Bayou. The word/vegetable Onion, is pronounced Oh-Knee-yun. I shit you not. One must listen very closely to understand their dialect of English.

On the original, I hear a Wurlitzer piano https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yUMAmI5YcBQ and live, he uses one too,-

Just sayin´ because a Wurlitzer is the better fit sometimes.
And I´m big Fender Rhodes fan nonetheless, now grabbing al the info about upcoming mk 8.

Making speaker cabs isn't hard, and since Thiele & Small it's actually easy.

Steely Dan, making their own slides, then teamed with the Carpenters to make Dobro Resonators.

Which Wurly is that? Has way more sustain than a 200A/140, which is why I assumed it was a Rhodes.?

Good ears Bud..

Talk about Pedal Steel tricks.
Has to be the first Talk Box ever made. Looks like a Star Trek gadget.

I’m listening to many guys on Pedal Steel copping their licks, but this guy caught my attention.
