Any good Modular 4 synth pad patches ( e.g. OBX ) ?

Post by dante »

Now that my XITE-1D is a dedicated 96Khz synth machine (mainly proWave) - are there any decent Modular 4 pad patches - I have the old Pad Machine one half ported from modular 3 - but looking for something more like a proWave synth pad - and using all Mod 4 modules if possible.

This way the XITE-1D will be a dedicated Mod4 machine. Initially just a preset pad but also something I can modify experimentally when I get some time to learn Modular.

Well if you're looking for an easy start into modular with a "Pro-wave" sound then how about JB's modular Pro-wave device?
It's semi-modular in a modular shell.

Yeah I thought of that but then I thought I might as well just use proWave - which is what Ive been doing, but now want to use Modular for what it is and has to offer. EG I've been looking around in here http://www.modularsynth.co.uk/patches.php - but theres nothing past 2012 there, so was wondering there must be someone Modular 4 patching away these modern days. Imagine you never had a Profit5 - and had to make your own sizzling evolving string pad.

Understand completely. From my limited experience with modular, it takes me an awful long time studying someone else's patch to figure out how it's routed in order to extract a desired sound from it. (a great way to learn modular btw)
Lately I have found it much more satisfying to just build my own from scratch because by doing it, I know the layout better and can manipulate the sounds better. None of my patches are complex or even original in their design but it has helped me learn synths a whole lot more.
There's a couple of classic patches floating around on this topic so just scroll down. Morpheus is one that comes to mind
Other than that there are just the factory patches it came with.
Hope that helps and good luck on your modular journey.

I don’t know how to retrieve this.
But Assaf taught us some cool stuff in his classes.

hey dante,

put something together for you :)

on the "cool faxi pad" play with the crossfader to bring in/out the vocal filter element. You can experiment a lot with something like this. for example make the osc sync connections, add filters, add more modulation on the modulator's mod inputs etc.

on the additive patch play with the harmonics via the mixers, slap some chorus, delay, reverb on it , beautiful results :)

Out of those 2 I like the cool_faxi_pad_1.dev. That's something I could work with / explore ! thanks Faxi.

@DawMan, if you could hook me up with the OBX patch I would be eternally greatful !! (especially if it contained no 3rd party modules).

Is there a oberheimish sounding filter (12dB state variable multimode) exisiting in SCOPE modular synths at all ?

I like the Minimax, Prodyssey, Profit5, Protone, ProOne and ProWave,- but really wished we got at least a Oberheim SEM type monophonic, expandable by using several instances and kind of DSP "Roland MPU-101 MIDI/CV" device,- creating a multitimbral polyphonic on demand.
But that urgently requires the Oberheim 12dB state variable multimode filter,- ideally 24dB LP switchable for some OB-Xa/OB-8 sounds in addition.

Do the necessary "atoms" exist in SDK or is it impossible designing such filter in SCOPE ?

:)
