What's the best Scope synth for bells?
or perhaps a modular patch?

FM was always a great choice for bellends (I jest!)

The ability to start with a complex harmonic relationship and have it 'settle' into a more simple resonant tone makes FM a great choice for bell patches. Careful selection of wavetables will get you here too. Modular (with Flexor!) will certainly get you there. But we have plenty of other options too, I'll list a few and let others pick up the slack:

So, Poison FM is the one that I'm sure almost everyone has. Pretty old though.

Vectron has a few patches that work well, depending on the sort of tone you're after.

Roy Thinnes made a few freebies worth checking out:

I know Solaris has stellar FM capabilities, not to mention you can host many different OSC models and use wavetables here too.

I am almost positive some of the Flexor patches had bells accounted for, as I helped Adern out back when all that was evolving. Been a few years though so I would have to audition them to find the ones that my mind is 'hearing', can't recall patch names offhand.

Also memory tells me Ocean Swift and 1 other 3rd party dev definitely had synths that were bell-capable, but I'll defer to others on which ones and for further info...

Thanks! I've tried some of those mentioned but didn't find a whole lot of presets. The OS Cyan Bell is nice but it is monphonic, looking for some poly. I'm specifically looking for a nice bell patch that blends nicely with piano.
Might have to make my own preset - what was that ADSR setting that Assaf taught us in synth school? :D :D

Well they were great for a hack like me, I probably should watch those again to refresh.
A quick look at Poison and i think that one may work out. Never really paid much attention to that little synth! Thanks for the tips valis!

There was another FM Synth device I think called FM4, quite an old device but a decent freebie. Also check out Digital Audio Soft FM bundle which isn't free but not too expensive http://scope.zone/index.php?id=1360&lg= ... d_2437=169

I use the Tranzistow VSTi which has a powerful FM section and the developer also recoded most of the Dx7 presets for it, and loads of excellent bell sounds in there so might be worth having a look-at that.

Yep Fm4 is not bad by any means, but the bell tones are not quite bellish enough for my tastes. Probably need a bit of tweaking, but I tend to always find 4 OP FM a bit lacking compared to the other stuff that I've collected.

6 Op is certainly better, so good on you for pointing out DAS's stuff.

There's a FleXor patch called FMShaper in the stock pack under "Leads and Synths" that can probably be dialed in to taste as well (or modified to suit your needs). There's also Chimes & Digital Wind Chime under "Toys"

I still think you might want to check out Vectron as well, as it's our closest comparison to Wavestation in the stock stuff.

Python Pro (if available) would be excellent in this domain: the FM part is quite regular, but the fun starts when you feed back the fx section into the synth engine and it's resonators... 8)
