Anyone try the tape flange trick by modulating Fequency Offset?

Eric Burdon did a cheesy old 60’s tune called Sky Pilot (How high can you fly-fly-fly-fly) that was a really good example of Tape Flange on vocals.
If anyone gets around to trying this I pray it’s thick and juicy as that example.
I use Satin and it’s about 50% authentic, but the closest in Native.
I’ve tried all of the “ultimate” and “killer” plug ins and they are weak.
But boy oh boy many experts with mathematical calculations persuade folks into believing that’s an exact 1:1 emulation.
It’s either there or it’s not.

But if you get the sound but have difficulty controlling it at0m’s LFO to MIDI Modular patch can automate the parameter smoothly.

Here’s Satin.
It’s so so.

Yep tried it for the article. Didn't try the mentioned MIDI automation on the freq offset though - that was just an idea at the time.... so if that works, good one.

Sounds promising though.
Looking forward to using it.
I did finally find the proper hardware pedal though.
Deco by Strymon seems to get thick, and the Expression Pedal can be assigned to any knob.

Strymon is indeed what I would have replied with, had you not said so first. Great products. El Capistan is on my short list and might be joined by a Big Sky when I get there. I haven't purchased because my needs in the studio are filled by so many tools already, but next time I go for a walkabout (gig beyond local events) I'm sure to add them to my collection.

Pedals made a comeback in a big way.
