Can I make a device look for renamed preset-file by default?

A place to talk about whatever Scope music/gear related stuff you want.

Can I make a device look for renamed preset-file by default?

Post by petal »

Is it possible to make a device look for renamed preset-file by default?

I discovered that Q-wave and Solaris v4.1 were sharing a preset file name, so I renamed the Solaris-instance, and would now like Solaris to open the renamed preset file by default. Is this possible and if yes, how?

Cheers,
Thomas

Is it really true?

No preset wizards present? :)

Are devices hard coded to look for one specific preset name or can I make the device look for a differently named preset file by default?

I might be wrong but from what I have seen a device does look for a specific preset file name when first loading. But you can create and reopen another named preset file from the original preset window. Maybe one way would be to create 2 banks within the preset file and name 1 Q-wave and the other Solaris, then copy the relevant presets to each bank.

Does that same shared preset file refer to a similar set of controls, for example is it the preset for the sequencer where the DSP atoms might be the same. If this was the case then that method should work in principle. Otherwise it might be an oversight by JB and you could email him about it.

It's the preset file called "Control Shaper". The presets are used in the same type of function in both synths, so one could easily argue that it makes good sense to use the same preset file for both synths.

Having an individual bank for each synth in the same preset file might actually be the best solution here.
I think I'll do that - Thanks!
