Out of the loop.

Post by Neutron »

Hello old friends and new pulsarians who do not know me from jack: quick question:

I have 2 scope 14/15 SHARK and a 6 DSP pulsar PCI cards, in a nice but older computer (whatever was the supermicro that replaced the CUSL2 when the next gen CPU came out.)

should i just sell off the cards, or try and sell it with the system?

are thee cards still worth something?

yes, the cards are still valuable.
they're worth more by themselves.

they can still be used in the new computers.

Did you get an X-ite or are you off the Scope platform again?

I assume your older machine is 32 bit?
My XITE-1 Machine is 64Bit and there is of course issues with the samplers.
I run a second machine with a Pulsar2 and Luna cards on an older 32 bit machine.
This allows me to use the Scope samplers and other synths which are a problem on the 64 bit version.
If you bring these sounds into XITE-1 via ADAT direct to a Scope Mixer, there is negligible latency, which allows you to record stems or the complete mix back into a sequencer.
If you record the external sounds to tracks in the sequencer (in on ADAT to Seq via ASIO), then there is some latency to deal with, but its not a big deal to fix.
Greater capacity is the bottom line and you have it sitting there!

That is a very cool idea, but i do not work like that and will not likely change now, and i do not really want to have another computer running in my music room.
