Using S/PDIF and Adat together on Pulsar 2

Post by medway »

Hi,

Think the answer is no but is there a way to use one of the optical ports for Adat format and the other S/DIF or do both ports use the same format at any given time?

Thanks.

More than one card perhaps? Each card can be set independently.

no.
you can use optical ADAT and coax sp/dif together, however.

Optical SPDIF and Optical ADAT can be converted. If you're running an 8-channel ADAT connection on one side of the card and want to use the other ADAT i/o pair with a device that only supports SPDFI, maybe an outboard format converter would suffice?

And btw if you're distributing clock to all of those devices, wordclock would be the ideal.

I only really needed one ADAT at a time and 2 S/PDIF but I think I'll find another workout to only need one. I was going to run digital out of my built in soundcard to get into Scope for win 10 but think I might as well just upgrade.

Most onboard sound cards do not have sync controls, So that would make your Onboard sound card master clock for everything. Probably not ideal

Yes was thinking that too, thought I might just sync it when I need Windows audio but would probably be a big hassle.

I personally would run at least a monitor controller between my monitors and any digital gear (Scope, computer etc) so summing onboard audio with other sources might occur here...

On that side everything is fine here. It was just Windows audio was dropping out in 10 using Scope 5 (with the system audio drivers). I guess going to 7 will fix that. I need the Luna digi in for a Roland rack I just bought anyway.
