Optical HDMI connection

Post by tonatona »

Hi,

is there a working optical HDMI connection for the Xite-1? I see many solutions for video with transmitters and receivers, they work in one direction only.
There are up to 300 meters solutions for USB though, in case you are living in a castle.

the XITE-1 does not use an HDMI connection, only an HDMI cable.
it is possible that an optical adapter might work.

Would love to hear if this succeeds.
Next is wireless AC/DC.

There were some beamforming/microwave products a few years ago for 'beaming' electricity across the room from an outlet, but they seem to have disappeared from the market.

Love the lightning bolts. Use for drunks bothering the singer, and hecklers like this poor girls father.

Optical HDMI does not work. I tried three very different solutions.

1. Five meters ATZEBE HDMI optical cupper hybrid for 46 euro, there are many offers on Amazon from manufacturers with silly names, they all seem to have the same cables with different plugs.

2. Ten meters DeLOCK HDMI fully optical cable for 150 euro, item number 85880.

3. Five meters LINDY 300m LWL / Fibre Optic HDMI 10.2G Extender for 330 euro, item number 38170, replacable cheap LC multimode OM3 cables, up to 300 meters length.

The errors are like the Xite-1 is not switched on: „Cannot start software becaus board(s) or driver not poperly installed. Please check installation.“ and „Cannot gain access to the SCOPE hardware!“.

There are some disadvantages using optical cables. The optical cables are damaged if you bend them. The transmitters and receivers are getting hot. The LINDY solution requires power supply from USB port or an adapter on both ends. There is maybe a small latency. The plugs are too big for many (thin) TV sets.

I'm glad i took a look into the optical solutions. My Steinberg AXR4T works fine with a Corning fully optical thunderbolt cable. The cable is good quality, the plugs are very small. Enjoying it a lot. I will take a look into the optical USB cables next.
