Old devices & downloads - do you have them?

Post by valis »

Hello everyone! As the old downloads and devices are still not fully fixed, I wanted to gauge how many of you are out there holding pitchforks and torches ready to beat down my door in frustration. Just kidding. It's time again to look at the old devices and downloads section and see if I can implement a fix.

(EDIT) Just a note that the "Donate" button is at the bottom of every page and links directly to Paypal's donation form. There's also been a few great suggestions that we should discuss as well.

no pitchforks, but it would be nice to havew access to those things. we should all donate so that you can afford to spend the time to make those things available, no?

Sounds like a plan, and I'd be willing to make that happen.

Donations are the yellow button bottom of every page. The links that are broken are in the older areas of the devices section, and currently that includes anything uploaded before the site moved to my server (the original planets domain recently went offline so this is new) as well as devices before an older phpbb migration (long-standing issue).

^^ Excellent resource.

However I would really like to get all of the oldest ones online here too, as there were a great many interesting devices from the early days. The planetz links will be fast to fix, but the oldest ones that link back to old phpbb devices are going to be a bit more work.

There have been a few large donations so far, for which I am very thankful. That puts us about 1/3 of the way to covering the time required, however I'll finish this anyway to honor both those who have donated and the years of Scope use I've had personally. I wouldn't mind covering the cost in full either, however.

Thanks to all

? also a collection point for SDK free building blocks, examples, models, atoms ...
... for more open interstellar depths in the dsp-scope-room ...
... and last but not least to arouse curiosity for scope-foreign species/synthesist´s ...

developers on earth
think global open for more scope-support = more results
its tricky freaky and fantastic at same time
i know... ııııııııııııııııııııı[<$]ııı
... now see the big free reaktor or/and max and/or vcv or/and... ...communities, it works

I'm not sure how many SDK users there are at present. Gary, can you shed some light on this? If there's enough interest and Holger isn't opposed to the idea, I do think we can at least have a discussion area for the SDK. And if it makes sense to also host some SDK files and again SonicCore is supportive of this, we can possibly do that as well. I'll let gary and any SDK users chime in on this point...

If you need any old devices that have fallen of the grid, I have a great many as you probably already know :)

I'd be happy to download some of my old devices :-) (disk crashes = lost stuff etc). I still have most of the commercial dev. but not the freeware :-)

Haha! Spacef you deserve to have your own devices for sure! Btw working on the database already (people may have seen the site offline a few times, don't worry!) And Mr Arkadin, all devices are actually present on this server already, the issue is that the older devices either have broken links due to the site change, or broken links due to a phpbb update John Cooper did ages ago AND url's that still point to the old site (double whammy there). I would have already fixed this by hand but quotes and escape codes can mess up SQL databases quickly, so being careful with my regex expressions here.

Still about 2/3rds of the way to covering the costs on this, but if all that are able to give have already given. No problemo. If there are still some willing and able out there, I appreciate all help given.
