XITE 1 with Windows 10

Post by TOM.DJ »

Hi Guys,

My Question is, will our XITE work on Windows 10?

Currently I'm running the software without any problems on Windows 8, but the way this version of windows works still annoys me.
The Windows 10 interface looks way better (oldskool) and microsoft is offering free upgrades now.

Also in the near future, I will get my hands on one of the latest laptops with ExpressCard interface (Dell M4800) and I surely do not want windows 8 to run on that.

So if anyone has experience with (a beta of) Windows 10 please share it here!
Thanks in advance!

Regards Tom

What's the status of Scope development? Is there any hope of an upgrade in our lifetime?

Damn, one small issue, the WAVE SOURCE does not work.

Project is at 48KHz, windows audio is at 48KHz as well, but it fails to play the windows test tone at the property page.
Logitec Headset is working fine.

Anyone a solution?

Thnx Tom

are you using the correct "SonicCore speaker" in the windows audio playback menu?
another user found that it worked after deactivating other "speakers". i don't think that's necessary, though.

I've two wavesource drivers installed, so I see 2 xite1 speakers in the windows playback devices settings.
When I 'TEST' both of them, I will get the attached message (and no sound is played).

do you have 24bit wave source and destination modules in the routing window?
if not please try them. two of each.

otherwise, we can try a Teamviewer session. i do know that others have had the same problem, but then had success.

edit-
nevermind. another user has the same problem and i couldn't find a fix. i've forwarded the info to Holger.

it's strange because i had been told that everything is working by more than one person. well, it's ASIO for now it seems.

I have the same WDM problem with my PCI cards after upgrading to Windows 10. (ASIO is working.)
In Device Manager / Sonic Core properties the devices are listed as functioning, but if you flip over to the Events tab you can see the message "Device not migrated". You can see the same message in Speakers properties.

There are other HW brands that are experiencing the same thing right now, and MS recommends installing driver setup in compatibility mode, here:
http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/wind ... d97eb56e13

I've tried this with driver signing turned off but I made no difference.
It seems that the devices have been flagged as "not migrated" and the OS remembers it.
Driver signing was supposed to be even stricter in Windows 10, so what now..?

This doesn't work. I think it is realy a problem in the driver installation / upgrade.

[UPDATE] I tried reinstalling, with driver signing turned off, but this did not solve the problem

Hey Garyb

Is disabling driver-signing no longer necessary for Win8 64-bit (and above)? I've had it off for ages AFAIK, my desktop still says that I'm in Test Mode.

thanks,
Cory

disabling driver signing is only necessary to install the drivers. once installed it's fine to exit test mode.

the "feature" is supposed to keep unwanted drivers from being installed by internet pirates. it's such a hassle because it's a way for m$ to control what works on their os. otherwise one must pay extortion(driver signing) to make things work normally. a warning window would have been sufficient, but...

I ofcourse did that, but then still you need to turn driversigning off to make it work.
Anyway installation in compatibility mode works fine, but still the same problem.

Also the 'Device Not Migrated' message is still appearing in the property window (see attachement).

To be clear, everything works fine (scope software, asio, inputs outputs), only the WAVE SOURCE is not working, so no windows sounds.
