Xite-1 on the road

Post by Roland Kuit »

Holger came with this great tip for the Xite-1 on the road:
Allumax pilotenkoffer. E90,-.
You can take this into the airplane.
Here, the Xite-1 likes the train too:

Hi all,

I am a bit worried. This weekend the XITE-1 keeps losing its contact to the laptop.
I think it is because little fluctuations in the electricity power.
I was using the machine in an other place.
Same thing happens when I'm working at my desk and I put on a light that uses the same socket.
Has somebody experienced this too?
I'm a bit afraid to use it live now.
What to do about it?
I used it without an earth socket.

get your self a single surge socket power conditioner and plug that into you power outlet

and plug the xite1 into that any surges or change is countered by the charging capacitors

or get a small ups which does the same thing but also has battery backup

you can get very small factor ups

try a different HDMI cable and make sure that the expresscard fits snugly. those are the usual culprits, but yes, a small ups would be a good thing, as long as it outputs a sine wave(to avoid inducing noise into the audio).

Thank you Gary.
I returned home and my Xite is running for more than 6 hours without losing contact.
Tomorrow I will go to my electric store(closed on Mondays) to get your solution.
Just for being on the save side when performing live!

ps:
In earlier days I performed live with my ARP2600.
Once we had to play at a beach party, so we got an aggregate(on benzine).
That didn't had a constant power either.
My ARP sounded like rnd sample&hold freq modulated.
We had to rush to the store for a mile-long electricity cable. :D

Just figured it out.
It's my laptop. Dual processor kind doesn't go well with Scope.
This makes me realy happy

Do you have more information about the reason behind the failure, to cause you to question the dual-core processor?

I have a quad-core i7, and have not had connection issues (other than if the expresscard was knocked).

Then only issue I've ever experienced regarding multi-cores was with using XTC mode, the DAW I was using had to have it's multi-processor capability disabled, or XTC plugins would always crash the DAW or even the computer. I think this is because the DAW I have spreads tracks across processors, but XTC mode (SCOPE) didn't like being spread across processors against it's own will. This limit has never effected normal use of ASIO drivers and SCOPE, ONLY XTC mode.

jksuperstar,
No fancy stuff here. Just 1 modular patch(not a big one), Plate reverb and the mixer.
XTC off. I get the error message like in the manual when using dual core processors.

This morning I enhanced my laptops memory and Scope is running for 4.5 hours without a problem.
That means, my other laptop was in a better condition.
