Arpeggiator/Sequencer Expert Help Needed

Post by dawman »

As the only lazy bastard in this forum, once a again I seek help.

Kenny Loggins
Danger Zone

There’s a small short pattern that comes up a couple times and I’m auditioning for a show with 80s tunes galore.

If anyone here can decipher this pattern Id be forever indebted.
I’m trying to play it w/o a step sequencer, but Im already doing a synth and synth bass part.
I want to make a Zebra or a Omnisphere preset so I can step on a pedal using a note on message to trigger this.

I got 20 bucks for whoever helps my lazy ass.
I’m cramming 16 tunes together for Friday.
Wasted 2 hours on this already.
Just need the notes from someone or a jpeq of an arp/seq like you’d see in some synth.

Too bad I dont know German, looks like a good tutorial.

Appears to be f# sus4th appeg with 16th notes ascending

My guess is this was programmed not played but I could be wrong

So try this one in your favorite DAW using your favorite sound. Tempo 160ish/ 4 bars

My best shot.
Perhaps someone else with superior skills will nail this one better for you
Good luck. 8)

I don’t use a DAW but if it’s a MIDI File I can drag and drop in Omnisphere I think.
Would you be able to write it out if this doesn’t work?

Thanks.
I’ll check this out and get back to you.

Yeah sure I think I can do that. Would you need notes numbers or notation?
Unfortunately i don't have Omnisphere

I read music, old school guy, so notes are easiest.
But I know what 0-12 etc. are on the arpeggiator.

Here’s what I got after dragging the MIDI File into Omnisphere.
My issue is I’m not sure if the arp they’re using is written as a note on only or a pattern re triggered with a new note every 4 beats, etc.
Totally clueless.

doesn't look quite right as far as the intervals are concerned. maybe if it sounds right then use it?
Also in the DAW it's written as continuous notes so not sure if that translated correctly.
Can you record it and post?

I’m chatting with SynthGuRu and with his Omnisphere chops I think he can nail it.
Needs to have instructions on how to play it or just a 1 note trigger tying 2 x 32 step arpeggiators.

Whatever happens I will share it with you and we’ll see if it works.
The guy knows his hardware and software. After a quick listen he said it sounds like the Oberheim DSX and started trying to explain how the blank spots are where the pattern retriggers.

Should be fun.

Send me a paypal link, you get an a for effort.
It’s close but there is a pattern of stutters that breaks up the lick.
SynthGuRu says after he wrote it out from isolation and half speed tricks, and will put it into Omnispheres arpeggiator tomorrow.

I’ll share it as it should be a great exercise in reverse engineering.

Even his is slightly off but I guess I’m going to have to play it while sustaining the left hand chord.
Probably need both hands too.
I always played arps before anyway, Lucky Star by Madonna was a cool exercise.
Took me a few days of practicing to get that one.
