Synthtopia: https://www.synthtopia.com/content/2018 ... nthesizer/
Gearslutz: https://www.gearslutz.com/board/electro ... ial-x.html

Not many details has been revealed yet, but:
16 voices
2 OSC's (type unknown)
2 Instruments (type unknown) of some samplebased type
Lowpass filter (type unknown)
Hipass filter (I've read somewhere)
4 lfo's
2 Effects

What do you think we have here?

All speculation,- also over @KC ...

I guess the polyphony comes from REV2 and it plays samples (8DIO is a sample set seller).
The question is if there will be 2 additional synth type OSCs or just only 2 OSCs which can do both,- alternately.
The filters will be what we know from DSI/ Sequential ... OnChip (CEM) chips,- at least for some analog synth section, probably also derivates from REV2,- "synth on a chip" (like Oberheim Matrix-6/Matrix-1000 CEM 3396) and if true.
The sample mangling might be supported by Prophet 12 components.
My guess is, it will be a combo of REV2 and Pro12/ Pro2 engines w/ more advanced sample playback beyond single-cycle loops, one-shots and wavetables.
I can imagine it MIGHT also go in the direction of the KORG Wavestation,- means "vector synthesis" where it´s unclear what is replacing the joystick because there isn´t any ...
Maybe the pair of ribbons and/or MIDI CCs.

It´s for sure somewhat interesting, but I´d prefer to get it in a flat-top case similar to a former SCI Prophet T8, together w/ 76 fully weighted keys A-C (like a piano), a +/- 1 octave transpose button coupled to a toggle ft-switch, masterkeyboard functionality and,- ice-on-the-cake,- poly AT.

Well, I can dream ...

As a "synth-action" keyboard, it doesn´t interest me much.

Anyway,- Superbooth is in 2 days ... we´ll hear and see more then.

But, when I look at all these features mentioned above and all the/my guesses as well,- I recognize we have all that in SCOPE as well,- some complete, other basic (for the time being).
I dunno what sample size Prophet X will be able to play back and I know SCOPE samplers are comparable to early 90s hardware sampler´s standard (which I somewhat like),- but that might change sooner or later when they receive updates or a new device comes in addition or as a replacement from S|C or 3rd party.
I also believe we´ll get more polyphony from bigger devices on XITE in future because there will come more optimizations.
SCOPE 7 was just only the beginning.

I own enough keyboard instruments already and I´ll only invest in those giving exactly what I want/need as a controller,- otherwise I prefer rackmount devices or,- ideally,- stuff running in SCOPE.

:)

Sounds interesting, but just ordered a Solaris keyboard so no more space or dosh left.

Wow! Lucky man! A Solaris the holy grale!
For me I see no reason to find the Prophet X interesting. Not for my needs.

No doubt this will be another high quality analog synth from DSI. It will appeal to some and not so much to others.
Personally I am very happy with my Prophet Rev2.
For my next hardware synth I think I will try out the Behringer line.

I'm hoping for a new take on the poly evolver, which would also make sense since it will be a new product that doesn't compete with the existing line of DSI synths.

Prophet (r)evolver with VS type wavetables or further sampling would be fun. Almost as good as a Zarg ProWave! Almost.

At $4,000, the Zarg ProWave wins for me ;)

I don't think it is for me either, although I have been gassing for a modern Poly Evolver type synth for a while, which I do believe this to be. 4000 is a lot though and prolly more than I'm willing to pay.

I don't see how the Zarg ProWave compare to this though? Only the Solaris can do stuff that is comparable to Prophet X, and you would have serious trouble getting 8 stereo voices out of it.

And then again, there's this thing of tangibility, that I'm really missing.

As a natural bragger about myself I take total credit for seperate Oscillator glide we’re now seeing on so many synths.
Hardly my idea, but I got tired of buying soft synths that didn’t incorporate it.
JBowen was up for the challenge, Zebra2 and Cakewalks Rapture followed.
Now hardware wisely emulates the famous sound from the beasts of yore.
Wish my SE-02 had it, but no problem. Zebra2 and Solaris got it....

What does separate osc glide do ? I'm reading the spec sheet here, in case I wanna buyed it.

https://shop.propellerheads.se/vst/zebra-2/

but doesn't mention about the osc glides.

I follow in thine steps oh lord of groovy keys...

I guess for 4000€ the synth will be dead wood. Cant understand why anyone should pay so much money nowadays. For the music it is not necessary to spend so much money! I say be creative first.

The list price is 4000$ not Euros ;)

Also, John Bowens Solaris is in the same price range, $4199 to be exact, a synth that seems to attract attention from people from this forum - even yours ;)

I read the post above mine Dante.
Seperate rates of Portamento per Oscillator.

It’s what gives the old and more recently newer big synths that huge sound.
It separates the Oscillators.
Oberheim OBX had a preset where Portamento was featured.
The larger amount of Portamento the wider/bigger the sound.

When I first starting using Scope Synths my biggest complaint was the wimpy ass Portamento.
Oddly enough, this was fixed by using Modular and placing 6db LP Filters on the outputs of any Oscillator.
Being fake Oscillators though you’d need 4 Oscillators, using different amounts of the Filter per Osc.
Get that big Emerson Moog Modular sound.

Scope Modular was a cheap way to create really mission specific synths before EuroRacks started becoming popular.
The difference between DSP and discrete Audio is quite noticeable though.
But great recordings can be had with software.
It’s live where discrete Audio just trounces software.
On good sized speaker Arrays soft synths sound like somebody hung their clothes over the speaker where discrete Audio just sizzles the second you play a note.

Dawman thanks for the tip on the separate OSC glide. I'm going to have a play with that on my Rev2

Actually Zebra2 does this really well for software.
Uptown Funk by Bruno Mars has a section where I use this wide to narrow glide with filter tracking.
Live it sounds fantastic and I know it’s working because everynight somebody comments to our singers that the keyboards sound good.
Never played in a dance band before.
Love the challenges of nailing multiple tracks across 8 zones because the studio versions are chock full of tracks.
Musically not so challenging, but the sheer amount of fine looking woman dancing solves any issues of boredom.

XITE-1 shines regardless Year after year.

Ok yeah I thought it was about Portamento. So for example, if you play a C major triad then play it an octave above, during portamento glide it wont always be a perfectly tempered major 3rd.

Thanks for the explanation dawman
