Sample Modeling Flute

Post by JoPo »

After one month full demo, I bought that :
http://www.samplemodeling.com/en/swam_flutes.php
I already own the Trumpet, Trombone, Sax but I missed flutes !
It's a-bso-lu-te-ly fantastic I can play flute exactly like I dream ! Sample Modeling is from far the best solo wind instrument editor. Ok.... EXPENSIVE ! But not for empty product... They worked hard on their product and they are amazing. I heard that their last products : solo strings intruments are not better than other plenty of them.
But their wind intruments are really the best : advice to all keyboard players : try their demo !

274€ (with french vat=20% :x ) for the 4 flutes is expensive if you believe it's flutes like any other editor made but Sample Modeling is totally another thing ! Like Xite-1 : expensive but definitely worth it !

The name says it: general scope discussion :)
'General' makes me think of things like the future of the platform, the GUI, sinc/asinc, missing links of the platform, the sound of Scope, best DAW for Scope, etc.

But also this one:
'The 5-25x is the ultimate sniper scope for long-range platforms...'

I did archive work for some years, I like logic and consistency I guess.
A classic one is: asking for tips in the tips & tricks forum to solve a problem :D

edit: gary beat me :)

It’s difficult to find a wind instrument to solo that will inmediatelly inspire you, kind of having a strong "emotional" connection with what you play. Most virtual instrument wind related are rather cold for soloing, so uninspiring. Nevertheless, with some work and care, you can really sound pretty damn cool for melodies, or even fake a solo if needed with Sample Modeling wind instruments. My preferred instrument of them all is the soprano sax, which I don't own yet.

Yes ! You're right the soprano is awesome ! It's my favorit real sax and the sample modeling one too ! But all 4 sax are as good ! And the flutes have even more function to express all what a good flute player can do ! Fantastic.

Which is a little surprising, is the little credit people give to them, even if they are the best in the market. Perhaps it is due to the instruments themselves, because most young guys search for the best “synths” but rarely for real instruments, I don’t know, but they deserve a BIG thumb up, these guys are amazing!

Yeah, totally agree samplemodeling is the best for wind, and I think for brass too. I have their flute, sax ensemble, trombones, trumpet, tuba and french horns, and have used them quite extensively. It's really fun to play with the EWI.

Did you modify the EWI? It turns me blue. AKAI never upgrades their software also.

I never tried their new string solo instrument. Too lazy to ask for geting the demo.

Did you try it ? Is it worth it ?

I'm playing with the flute and it's fantastic ! :)

How long do the demos last? Are there any restrictions?

If I remember well, you just ask them. And if the computer is not connected to internet, the demo can work a very long time.

ah, so they did finally get on with the strings. I saw on their website several years ago they were working on one, and that was even before they switched off of Kontakt.

I'm using EWI USB as is. I think the resistance on it is okay. Maybe too much resistance since it's really easy to max out its breath range. Might be because I played clarinet for years as a kid. EWI + sax bros is such a euphoric pair, it should be taxed.

what the fff.... interesting, they released a viola first. No offense, viola is awesome in the right context, but wasn't the first string instrument that came to mind when I thought "solo strings". The series would be great to add as first chairs into a section.

For strings, I would search elswhere, honestly, they are very childish sounding. There are problems with formats and ligamento, they sound very artificial and not in a nice way. I mean, sometimes there are natural instrumentas that sound cool not been natural, well..., this is not the case.

Yes... Strings don't look as good as wind instrument. But I don't know where to find a solo string as good as Sample modeling solo wind !

The Viola is great to play with a wind controller ... :D

And yes samplemodelling are making a great job but you need the right controller to play their instruments :D :

Their clarinet, flute and oboe for example.
