Well, this seems to be a Mac-related problem. All the STS range do the same thing: whenever i map a sample over a key range i just get constant tracking, regardless of what that setting is on. Sometimes the key range doesn't even play all the notes in that range, sometimes the pitches seem to be random.

STS is OK for non-pitch related hits from drums, but that's it. i think i'll give up on STS as it seems that CWA are not going to update it (lord knows it could do with it). However, even without an update this thing should at least work and it doesn't.

If anyone has any VSTi suggesions that work in OS9 i'd like to hear them, because at the moment i can't get this song i'm working on going as i need a sound over a key range.

Mr A (getting slightly dejected)

you could try Phatmatic Pro (pc and mac).
It's the slice editor by Bitshift-audio, it serves very well as easy sample player too, as it's multitimbral.
It also has several st-outs, and there is a further devellopped OSX version.
Not expensive, and slice editing/filtering is also great
