PlanetZ forums are moving --> scopeusers.com

Post by John Cooper »

Some time in the next week, the planetz scope forums will be moving to a new server, and have a new name.
Matt Broadstreet has offered to host the forums at his server, under the new domain name scopeusers.com

Gary B will continue to moderate and Matt will take care of the server backend maintenance. And I'll be sure to check in now and then :)

This will be the end of an era for me-- I started my Pulsar-obsessed website back in 1999! But in recent years, I have had less and less involvement. It's been a very long time since I've even had a running Scope system. My old pulsar cards are still sitting on the shelf- I guess maybe I should list them for sale, along with all their registered plugins so one of you can put them to good use.

I'm confident that the community will continue to thrive at its new location. Initially, nothing will change aside from the name. The entire history and contents of the planetz scope forums will be transferred to the new server. Later, I'm sure there will be updates/upgrades and changes to the look and feel, but I'll leave that up to you guys.

When we throw the switch, forums.planetz.com will automatically redirect to the new location.

Cheers, and all the best!

Thanks John for all your hard work in those many years keeping planetz forums running smoothly. It has been an invaluable asset to us Scopers and a great place to just come and have a read or chat, as I am sure it will continue to be on the new servers. I wish you all the best in your future endeavours and thank you once again. And yes we hope to see you from time to time on the new site.

Cheers

Mixed emotions. Glad the forum will still be here, sad that the planet z name and JC are to disappear (well obviously John will still be around but you know what I mean).

Without this forum I think Scope might have disappeared into the aether. This forum is lasting as long as the cards themselves.Maybe you'll pop in from time to time as honorary member number 1.

Thanks John for PlanetZ and for keeping such a great place alive! Planetz is largely responsible for keeping SCOPE alive IMV. Great community, informative place that has brought ENORMOUS help to many. I've always loved coming here.

PS. I will miss the PlanetZ name. Loosing the Creamware name was weird, but I guess ultimately one gets use to it.

If I'm not mistaken, this forum was started with John using a Pulsar 1.1, on a Pentium II 400mhz. All you OC freaks, no offense, but take note that such a Scope system, if reproduced today would still produce music as good as it gets in the right hands. Maybe we can start off the new forum by posting stuff to show off Scope, like John did so many years ago, as was his intent at the beginning. Hey laskows, one of the first posts by John was two Waldorf oscillators + noise, independent env and LFO for modulating wavetable positions with several presets. Sound familiar? Let's bring things full circle as our tribute to John. Thanks John, we will do our best to continue your vision far into the future. In the meantime I wish you all the best in all your endeavors.
