XITE Cracks and Pops - another potential cause/solution

Post by dante »

I had a post here where I thought the THOR had solved the problem - but it had only reduced it :

https://forums.scopeusers.com/viewtopic ... OR#p337460

Last night I bypassed the Behringer Ultragain Pro => XITE-1D mic input and fed straight from the Mic into my ZOOM interface.

No cracks or pops.

So then I decided to check the XITE power input and recalled the XITE-1D has a 12 volt power line (thin) which comes from a wall wart adapter.

Heres the thang. The thin 12volt line was there tangled in the mess of 240V power cables. I lifted the 12V line with adapter so it was housed in the Rack behind the XITE, and ran the 240V power cable from that down to the mess of 240V cables on the floor.

So far, cracks and pops GONE (after 1/2 hour recording) ! DOH ! The 12V line is probably no-where near as insulated and the 240V cables and likely was picking up induction induced interference from the 240V cables. Testing over time will confirm.
