DP35DP and audio drop-outs
DP35DP and audio drop-outs
Hello
I updated my system to dp35dp + e8500 on win xp pro, scope45 and sx3
pulsar2 & srb
I encountered dropouts when moving the mouse so I made a minimal installation :
win xp
drivers intel dp35dp (last ones)
driver video carte matrox perhelia (last ones)
pulsar2 alone on one irq (I did not install the SRB)
sx3
scope45
the same problem occurs : drop outs when moving the mous, even sometimes without moving
is the order of install correct - i allways did it like this
may be its about latence pci bios = 32 or hyperthreading ?
Can somebody try to help me ?

Re: DP35DP and audio drop-outs
Try switching USB port for your mouse.
Re: DP35DP and audio drop-outs
yes, move the mouse to a different port and disable the usb controller that shares an irq with the scope card in the device manager.
Re: DP35DP and audio drop-outs
Hi I tried other ports for the mouse but allways the same problem.

what is sharing an irq with the Scope card?
what is sharing an irq with the Scope card?
Re: DP35DP and audio drop-outs
this is the installation with pulsar2 and srb :
http://hurpasard.free.fr/conflicts_sharing.txt
the pulsar2 is all alone on his irq - no desactivating necessary.
the srb was not alone - but I desactivated 2 usb controlers, pci express root port3 and smbus - so now its alone.

Re: DP35DP and audio drop-outs
does it work?
Re: DP35DP and audio drop-outs
I think it's DPC latency issue.
All old BIOS of the Gigabyte P35 series mobos have CPU spikes that causes stuttering, clicks & pops.
Use that tool to see if u got that CPU spikes :
http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/Sys ... cker.shtml
If u wanna some more ifoz about that problem and gigabyte mobos :
http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/s ... p?t=681108
Try another bios to solve the problem. If u don't solve nothing, contact Janus from the GIgabyte support : janus.yeh@gigabyte.com.tw
After some days i got a new beta bios (not available on the official site) that solve the problem with my Gigabyte GA-P35-S3G.
Another thing that you must try is to disable all network cards/adapters (modem/wifi/ethernet).

Maybe that topic on TweakTown forums can be useful :

Re: DP35DP and audio drop-outs
Sorry about my errors when writing english - what I tried to say is that after my first test and post hear on planetz I made sure that the irq is not shared - so I'm said to say that there is nothing new to report.garyb wrote:does it work?
After so much time spent on the new system without making music I invited a friend to record some noise together, it was fun and its pretty clear that the dropouts come when mouse moves.
Kwild, My mobo is INTEL DP35DP and not a Gygabyte one.
I will have a look on this tool to see if there are cpu spikes ...
Re: DP35DP and audio drop-outs
Oh,i think it was a Gigabyte DP!gustav wrote:Kwild, My mobo is INTEL DP35DP and not a Gygabyte one.garyb wrote:does it work?

Anyway the DPC problem is not a Gigabyte problem only...
Try the tool and try to disable any network adapter as i've already say.
Re: DP35DP and audio drop-outs
What is the mouse manufacturer?
Is there any mouse software loaded at bootup (run msconfig to see)?
Same thing with your video card - is there any Matrox apps running?

Re: DP35DP and audio drop-outs
there was a problem like this in 3ds max caused by microsoft intellimouse drivers. if you have that unninstall. you dont need it anyways.
or
it might not be the mouse, maybe its the video card.
what if you drag windows around, does it get worse?

Its a logitech mouse - In my installing process I allways diable all startup apps in msconfig : so no mouse software loaded.
For the video card : matrox parhelia 128 pci-express, I don't install all the software - I only install the last video driver
yes, I will also try to disable the network adapter
Re: DP35DP and audio drop-outs
What window are you working in when the mouse interference happens - SX3 or Scope?
Also, what asio driver is loaded in Scope, and what ULLI latency are you using?
Running out of ideas here.

Re: DP35DP and audio drop-outs
DPC : no spikes at all - even no little spike when moving tyhe mouse and dropout happenskwild wrote:Anyway the DPC problem is not a Gigabyte problem only...
Try the tool and try to disable any network adapter as i've already say.
network disabled :
moving the mouse & dropouts :
I just tested configuration with only 1 monitor (second screen not attached in display management) :
moving mouse on the sx-windows produces dropouts, I tried to run around with the mouse without going on the sx-windows and there are far less dropouts. but its not easy to say. The easiest way to produce dropouts to move the zoom in sx.
microsoft intellimouse drivers : did not find anything like this
drag windows around : I'm not sure if I understand this right, I tried to follow the border of the sx-windows with mouse changing constantly appearance - no dropout
Perhaps its not the mouse but the videocard ?

Re: DP35DP and audio drop-outs
I just read some trouble shooting information in the matrox manual - and I saw : Try start in vga mode
seen and done : there is no way to produce dropouts !!!

Re: DP35DP and audio drop-outs
It comes better - I allways used the last driver (the SE United driver of december 2008)
no good ! :
I installed the HF driver from May 2007 and no dropouts no more !
I have to make more test this configuration ...

Re: DP35DP and audio drop-outs
Im glad you looked in to the video card. problems with the mouse cursor are often in the video card/drivers
I hope its fixed and you can get back to serious business
I remember back in the day those matrox were the thing to have for scope. is there any reason to use it over a modest ATI or Nvidia passive card?
