Is it possible to cross the 13 ms latency barrier ?

Post by Alarko »

Hello,
Using Pulsar 2 for a number of years never had a chance to go lower than 13 mls
Is it possible at all? have I missed something ?
My configuration is AMD DUAL CORE 5600 Ram 3 gb
Please help!

I'm a newbie here hope to get some feedback (couldn't get it anywhere else.

Thanx

Have you tried adjusting your ULLI settings?

You can find them under 'set' at the top of the Live Bar in the scope window.

I have no windows experience, and hardly use Scope these days, but I think it is normal you can't set the latency in your sequencer's preferences, you have to do it in SFP and the applications will follow.

Yeah I sure have...

Still it sticks to 13
It says 'your hardware doesn't support bla bla something"...
does it need to be adjusted specificly in OS settings ?

It is P2 ona Fusion 3.5 platform
The manual says ithe system needs ro ne switched to standart PC instead of ASPI -
Also to calculate RAM capacity
Is it crusial to latency issue ?

if it's a Pulsar2 you should DEFINITELY be able to use 4ms at least. are you sure it's a p2? (don't hit me, i have to ask :) ) is there a p1 with it?

With not so recent hardware (gigabyte ga-ep45-extreme, quad core Q6600) I managed to get 2ms latency, that is 2+2 = 4 or 5ms TOTAL
latency (from input to sequencer-and-effects to output) with only one 3DSP luna board. So I guess that your latency problem is again due to this
IRQ problems. If you are lucky with your system you will get 2ms latency, and if like me with my new install you are not lucky (depending on what
your IRQ your windows has assigned to your board himself), you will have to deal with ACPI, IRQ, and windows installation problems... or am I
wrong ?

Back in times I had problems with latency, I couldn't get the lowest ULLI settings that was shown. all of this is linked to your system.
It has to be tweaked a bit in order to get the lowest latency. I still have problems to get low latency without cracks, and I'm afraid that I'll
have to reinstall the whole system without ACPI support :/

Thank you guys

I had to double checked the card :o and it's true - it got 4 sharcs not 6
It's P 1 not P2 for sure
Does it mean that it is destined to be a 13 mls turtle or still there's a hope to get a bit faster adjusting Windows settings?

Appreciate your insights

You can use any second generation Scope card, even a 3 DSP card if you want to do it on the cheap, and make that the primary card. Using an STDM cable connect it to the Pulsar1 et voila you will be able to go down to 3ms. You gain second gen technology and add three extra DSPs.

yes, otherwise it's 13ms minimum.
