Re: Connecting a microphone to Scope - unbalanced input

Lift at the unbalanced end, not the xlr. *If* your are having ground loop problems and it's not a transformer or cross coupled output stage then best to just connect pin2 of the xlr to the tip of the 1/4" or rca jack and connect pin1 of the xlr to the shield of the cable and leaving the sleeve ...

On the balanced connector, tie pin 3 and pin 1 together. Pin2 is hot.

Re: Info about the release of SCOPE XITE-1 and SCOPE 5

I remember when the 15 DSP scope cards first became available here. They were something like $15,000.00 AUS. I bought mine when they came down to $2500.00. So I'll be waiting for quite some time until there is a vibrant xite-1 community and a stable platform and by then AUS prices should be down a b...

Re: MIDI confusion...

Can't help you but I would be interested in how you get on with the BCF. I'd like to get a controller but I've stayed away from the BCF because of no fader readout (I don't want to have to think about what the fader is controlling).

That system should be fine for scope. I wouldn't expect there to be any problems with it.

Re: Returning to Scope Land

You have been gone a while Brett! I picked up a Gigabyte P35 DS3 motherboard, E4400 Intel Core2 Duo, 4 Gig ram and 80gig sata HD for about $200 AUS about 8 months back at the local computer markets in Canberra. Although the system wasn't intended to run the scope cards I did try it out for awhile an...

I'm running PMC TB2's for nearfields. Why? for all reasons mentioned before (TB1's), they are very very revealing, and I like how the frequency response remains consistent across the spectrum at all listening levels. E.g. you don't lose bass when you turn down but on the flipside there's no wow fact...

Gothic 3 real orchestral recordings. Beautiful! http://gamemusichall.net/music/Gothic_3/gothic_3.php For gameplay I put Gothic 3 over Oblivion once you download the patches to fix all the bugs! No hand holding and lots of having to explore to find things. Oblivion is great 2 but the leveling system ...

If you just want the names, in unix you could run "strings <filename>" on the unpacked file to pull out all text most of which, I imagine, would be preset names.
