Re: Top Three Albums of the 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's

I'm not a real musician. I don't have any albums from the 60's or 70's.

80s
U2 - Joshua Tree
Paul Simon - Graceland
Simple Minds - Live in the City of Light

90s
Fishbone - Reality Of My Surroundings
Peter Gabriel - Us
Big Wreck - In Loving Memory Of

Re: The Breaking

Hey thanks guys for the comments. And now I've given my ears a rest I'm happy enough there's not too much low end but I think I do need to tame some of the high mids in certain sections in the drums. Maybe this is what you are referring to Nestor? There is a vocal track but I left it out because I t...

The Breaking

Mixed in scope with Transient Designer, Timeworks Vintage EQ, STM 4896, Vinco. And thats pretty much it. I think it might be a bit bass heavy. I wasn't able to use my VU meters to judge low end energy as my studio is temporarily turned into a storage shed until I can get the new storage shed built s...

Re: Need more I/Os - STDM or ADA8000?

What quality are the outboard compressor/eq's? It may defeat the purpose if running through cheap outboard when a good internal plugin would be better to avoid the extra adda conversions, although I am all for outboard compression!

Re: Studio Monitor Stands

I made mine from square aluminium tubing like this:- http://www.falconsa.com/signsupplies/square-tubing And joined with plastic fittings like this:- http://www.cityplastics.com.au/framing.html Bought from a local hardware store. Filled with sand as I joined it all together. Very solid and very easy ...

Re: Garritan bigband in action

Right on Wayne!

It is admirable the effort trying to get samples to feel authentic! I tryed so hard when I was younger getting realistic drum rythyms with samples. But as soon as a live drummer got involved, all bets were off! Now I just prefer to get real musicians in to track!

You know what I would like to see? A commercial mixbus offering. Pre-master! I would really like to see dynamics put back into album releases!

Re: UN intervenes Libya now

This is, very unfortunately, the beginning of a big, extremely long fight that will last almost 20 years, as many countries will get involved slowly, but surely on it. The third world war has just started, believe it or not! Yea..., I wish I was wrong, but I'm not...   3rd world war...

Re: big brother's house

I'm more important than I thought then. Do you mean your zone has low res imagery too? Here around (Eolie Islands... Salina, Vucano) images are not hi res, but still good for 3Km alt. view. That zone of Antigua is covered with images suitable for 20 Km alt. max Yep and my property isn't even there ...

Re: Recommend me a computer game (Steam)?

The Gothic series for RPG. A fantastic series of games. I prefer 1st person but the Gothic series are 3rd person with a 1st person option. However for some reason 3rd person just didn't bother me in that series at all.

Drums are distorted. cymbals are very washy. I know you liked to run distortion on drums from past posts. If you have done that here then I would say back off a little! :)

Re: NOK Hold Me

Whoops! I can't take credit for recording this band. Only the mix of this version. My apologies if I misled. This was recorded over in LA. On the original mix there was a lot of focus on the use of tape and more tape and compression and subsequently the master came out rather dull. This project was ...

The Cool Short Skirt

This song is again all live instruments and no synths samples. Recorded via a RAMSA DA7 straight into scope at 44.1kHz (so wish I did not have to sell that desk!). The recording was kept dry as it is only a 3 piece. Only 3 mics on kit - 2 x AT4030 OH's and a Beyer Dynamic m201 TG on kick. Reverb was...

NOK Hold Me

A snippet of a song. All instruments are real (no synths or samples). Vocals are guides. Entirely mixed in scope v4.0 with mostly stock effects apart from Timeworks Vintage EQ and the old Timeworks ezverb which I keep coming back to for some reason even though I have the very nice masterverb pro and...
