Re: Ferrofish news and exhibitions
What does UA have to do with this? They have their own interfaces. It's a DSP-powered AD/DA, and Audio Interface - not so unlike the Ferrofish unit here in a way. I only really mentioned it, cause you are hit with a UA advertisement for their Apollo interface at the start of the vid... the irony of...

Re: Ferrofish news and exhibitions
Yes, it looks gorge there in the vid.... And an incredible price! Well done Ferrofish! It is a pity that the fact that there's a modern SHARC in there wasn't highlighted... That the link with Sonic Core wasn't highlighted... Expands its usefulness bigtime. Especially since the SoS trip to Musicmesse...

Re: Anyone successfully using Cubase Pro 8 with Scope on XIT
Good news. Wonder if this is a problem common to all such boards? Sounds likely given your 100% fail across three boards, which given the investment and effort required, is a decent sample size! Wonder if others have had issues x99?

Re: Ferrofish news and exhibitions
Seems there are two standards for this AES59-format cable, differing in the pinouts only.

Re: Ferrofish news and exhibitions
I guess it'll be the Tascam/Digidesign DB25 connectors.

Re: Ferrofish news and exhibitions
I wasn't suggesting a MultiFX unit. Rather, something that would do submixes and routing tailored for surround-sound work... Similar to RME's offering, here's what Motu supply in their 828 / 896 range: http://www.motu.com/products/motuaudio/828x/cuemix-fx.html And TC Electronic's Konnekt 48, which h...

Re: Ferrofish news and exhibitions
Yeah, I kinda got that... the 1999(?) vintage original SHARC chips on my PCI cards are not many orders of magnitude less powerful than those used in XITE... not like in PC-land at least. Surprisingly, I guess the XITE dates from about 2007? PCI card SHARCs would have been about 8 years old when the ...

Re: Ferrofish news and exhibitions
Well, a single DSP that's more powerful than those in Xite would still run a fair whack of stuff I guess? I dunno.. Like, XITE and XITE-1D have the following DSPs (from http://sonic-core.net/joomla.soniccore/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=40&Itemid=124&lang=us#twoj_frag...

Re: Ferrofish news and exhibitions
I guess, mixers and encoders/decoders for 5.1 / 7.1, and other surround sound tools. Upmixing up to 16.2 would be possible? And Midi control of those Scope devices running on the box nailed down, and the Midi spec published. Not sure if some digital channel into the box could handle other control tr...

Re: portaudio won't load
And, btw, there are no "guys at portaudio". It's an open source library. Anyone with the know-how can download the source, fix this bug, and submit their code change for inclusion in the next build.
Another reason to fix this on the portaudio side..

Re: portaudio won't load
To be clear, the dialog doesn't come from scope. Portaudio needs to know what data format it needs to send to the asio endpoint. For that, it queries what sample rate scope currently is running at. Portaudio is not attempting to change anything in Scope! Yes, it's some bad error handling in the port...

Re: portaudio won't load
Not sure this will help anyone / trigger anything, but... in the interest of completeness.... The portaudio library is used as the audio interface to the OS for many applications. See a list here: http://www.portaudio.com/apps.html So I tried an app from that list - Ambiloop - its a free sampler of ...

Re: portaudio won't load
In the interest of accuracy... So, Bitwig did indeed start last time some two months ago, on their 1.1.6 Release Candidate. But - I tested it again last night. Yes, Bitwig did start when Scope was started, but I cannot see ASIO devices (I should have two connected devices - Scope 5.1, and a Focusrit...

Re: portaudio won't load
Hi, I was a Beta tester for Bitwig in the first half of last year. Same as yourselves, I could not get Bitwig to reliably start its audio server - the process (engine-x86.exe I believe) would hang. Bitwig support weren't forthcoming with a solution either. So, my ability to perform beta testing kind...
