Re: Directsound extw37 bt wireless cans
Update after using this for a while.. the bass being a bit more macho than necessary isn't that bad. Still inaccurate, but fine for pleasure listening. What gets annoying right away is that LR channels can't seem to stay connected. I'm sitting 3ft from the Mac and LR channels drop in/out like crazy....

Re: change of vocal sound design mid song
Hibari definitely holds a special place in my heart. My grandma was mesmerized by Hibari's singing, so I knew OF Hibari since a kid, but only after relistening to her repertoire after becoming musically competent did I realize how great her singing was. Hibari is a legend in Japan. It's said that sh...

Re: change of vocal sound design mid song
I think it's strange they went with a live band for Miku's concert. I sort of take it as a sign of the production not fully committing to the concept of a virtual concert. But maybe having actual humans on stage performing actions that the music can be attributed to is necessary to satisfy the need ...

Re: change of vocal sound design mid song
The hand movements that Japanese pop idols do (in my own theory) probably comes from the long history of bon dance, and other folk dances. They're easy to learn, not too physically exerting or challenging, and so they're great as "group" activities. With many idol groups, and even with pop...

Re: change of vocal sound design mid song
Lol, incredibly knowledgable as usual. It's difficult to compare idol groups to enka singers since enka singers just sing, and so are incredible at it, while idols are expected to be competent at a whole bagfull of things. I think with Perfume, what differentiates them from the likes of AKB48 (which...

ya, I'd say 150% of my patches are just a trail of stuff that got generated while I was moving through, and I don't remember most of them.

change of vocal sound design mid song
I've never heard a vocalist's voice's sound design change mid song to a good effect. Usually it tends to be a shift in mic position by mistake or a track was missing some fx or whatever (so basically human error) but here it is used as an expressive device. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=biMO46z_VS...

Re: Seaboard or Linnstrument?
ya, those keys seem very hard to service.. or impossible to service since it's continuous rubbery surface. So the whole assembly needs to be changed? I mean, doable, but for something with a bunch of keys, seems like being able to fix 1 key is worthwhile.

Re: Piano: THIS IS IT!
it's great you found the piano that's just right for your taste. I think with pianos there's an imprinting process that happens consciously/subconsciously, and a particular sound gets cooked into the brain. For me, I'm guessing it's the Kawai baby grand that I had at home. It's not particularly the ...

Re: Modular / Eurorack emulation jam
The animated noise sort of sound is cool. Noise->LPF->pitch sort of sound which I like a lot. I'd have added more stuff to it, but I think there's beauty in the minimalism too. You could explore more range in the params to make it to different wild things during the performance IMHO.

Directsound extw37 bt wireless cans
My noisecanceling headphones cracked and died on me so I decided to try out the new bluetooth offering from Directsound. I have a bit of history with Directsound's EX29, which is their wired passive noise canceling headphone. I just got it to drown out what otherwise was an extremely noisy open plan...

lol, thanks for the kind words. Every time I look at the ladder to climb to get to scoring the first picture, I feel the insane amount of effort required could save humanity. So I'm saving humanity instead.

Re: Seaboard or Linnstrument?
ya, a bit OT but I thought La La Land really spoke to the golden era of film musicals, and really nailed that look/pacing. The accolades are most likely coming from people who miss that era. I felt like La La Land was a revival, but didn't feel like it added much to the classic look/feel. So technic...

Re: Seaboard or Linnstrument?
btw, just realized the Seaboard keyboard was super mega featured in La La Land. The product placement couldn't have been more prominent. I wonder how it ended up on screen? It seems like Seaboard wouldn't push to get product placement, so maybe La La Land production side just used it?

Re: Touch The Sky
Cool over all sound, reminds me of the digital era synths, which is a refreshing change from the classic analog era since that's sort of played out by now. Korg, Roland, Yamaha in digital workstation dynasty in full swing! Throw in a keyboardist's interpretation of a rock band twist, a sudden orches...
Re: XITE The Land
nice expansive sound and arrangement. I didn't really understand what the voice was saying. Seemed the texture of the voice was counter to everything else so it stood out in a bit of a horror/freaky way.

Re: Pianoteq !
A very interesting composition. The strings and voices sort of blend into a mystic texture, and the lead voice seems to blend in and out of the mass of texture, sounds a bit ominous. The bass has an interesting attitude... he's like syncopated and funky just all by himself, which is really attention...

not much to listen to since it's just an edit of the recording. I didn't reconstruct it or anything..
you can definitely hear the great work in the original recording tho. (somewhere on youtube)
