Cool Gear PCI to PCI Expansion
Hi, Just been looking at one of these expansion boxes - Please see below https://www.coolgear.com/product/pci-express-to-pcix4-slots-expansion-box Is there any technical impediment or reason why this would not work with 3 X PCI cards onto a PCI-e slot? After reading the tech specs it shows 2.5 Gb/s ...

Re: Old devices & downloads - do you have them?
I had someone who was willing to spend the time on the dB back when I posted that, but the world has changed a lot so I would need to get new pricing. Appreciate the donation, should I send it back until I can price this again? Hello - You required a donation - :) - How many active SCOPE USERS are ...

Re: Old devices & downloads - do you have them?
Hello everyone! As the old downloads and devices are still not fully fixed, I wanted to gauge how many of you are out there holding pitchforks and torches ready to beat down my door in frustration. Just kidding. It's time again to look at the old devices and downloads section and see if I can imple...

Re: Scope Boards on Thunderbolt working!
Wow - You've got PCI to PCI-e bus working through thunderbolt 3 / USB-C - This is real experimentation !!! - And it's working. From memory the Power Sampler / Luna cards have a 4 pin floppy power connector - Would it help matters if you got some power from the PSU - to the Power Sampler ? - (specula...

Re: MSI Z270 PLUS MOBO
Hi, If you Google the name of the motherboard - MSI Z270 Plus specs - in the sesrch engine it will show the board and take you to the correct MSI page where you can check the compatibility for processors etc.... The pages are confusing to start with if you are not sure of the Intel socket specifics....

Re: Chinese motherboard.
but I had issues with Xeon Chipsets for some reason, never HEDT or consumer. That's the problem. These Chinese motherboards are for Xeon. The i7 would work as well which would be 3930 k and 4930k as well as any LGA 2011 CPU's. Problem with these chinese boards is that information is hard to ...

Re: Chinese motherboard.
Hi, Interesting subject for computers - I got one or two X79-T motherboards - Don't know who even makes them but are available on Amazon / Ebay etc....and the prices vary - But 60 is OK for one of these boards. The one you looked at is a different board but still X79 - Which will use the E5_2600_ser...

Re: PAE patch XP Professional
Right I just meant it’s clear the machine has a lot of RAM and you’re trying to use it in a 32bit OS. Was wondering what was holding you back from a 64bit memory space... Nothing is holding me back from using 64 bit OS - I've done some XP installs on modern boards for both 32 bit and 64 bit followi...

Re: PAE patch XP Professional
Win7 is likely your best bet. It's the closest to Xp32 from any modern OS (Vista dropped things and they 'walked back' some of those API changes later which means that Vista did get 'patched' but Win7 came from the get-go with the legacy cruft bolted back in). Ie, you can disable the DWM (Aero) and...

Re: PAE patch XP Professional
Hi, I've got an image of Windows 7 to try out - ready to go with most updates on ! - With this stuff I'm not that good at it! - But, I've read that IGP (Intel HD 4000__sandy_)___onwards had problems with grpahics__and PAE. Do discreet GPU's have problems with PAE? I'll look up Aero (from memory it i...

Re: PAE patch XP Professional
OK I found something at long last so I'll share it here. Below is a link to a PAE patch for XP and ++ other OS - It's for 128 GB - I've just done this on a one click install / un-install - It is however only showing as 64 GB! - haha - Only 64 GB! not the 128 GB so I took a look in system32 folder an...

PAE patch XP Professional
Hi, Got XP working on modern boards which is great - SATA / AHCI etc......but need a PAE patch that is simple-ish to implement - And with good instructions too ! Re: PCI-e to PCI extender for Scope ( experiment going to be a solution :) )
OK I did get one or two of the Sintech style PCI cards with 2 x PCI slots on --- On my travels I found this which is a 1 x PCI-e to PCI adapter card - So you'd need 3 based on the assumption that they work!!!!!!!!!!!!! https://www.startech.com/Cards-Adapters/Slot-Extension/PCI-Express-to-PCI-Adapter...
Re: AMD CPU's
Thanks fraz! Just a reminder that for audio work, regardless of AMD or Intel, Faster cores > More cores. 3700X gets my vote :) >>>It was possible to get some IVY BRIDGE XEON E5 CPU's - cheaper than i5's - Example E5_1680_V2 (think early version 5960X)___standard clocks of this Xeon are 3.0 Ghz >>>>...
