Re: with 6 inputs crackles at higher sample rates
Your problems looks like mine, but I think, I got proof, that the A16 is not the culprit. A local loop-back on the xite produces the the same crackles at 48k as connected to A16. A local loop-back on the A-16 has no cracles.

Re: with 6 inputs crackles at higher sample rates
On suggestion of Juergen from ferrofisch I did the same loop-back test on the XITE:
Analog signals to MIC/DI, send to ADAT-A out, looped back to ADAT-A in and connected to the mixer. Same result: if S/R is > 44.1K-> crackles.
When I remove the ADAT from the design, no crackles at all.

Re: with 6 inputs crackles at higher sample rates
By 'at 32K and 44.1K' I mean, that ADAT input and output are working fine. Here in Japan people with ADAT are difficult to find, but anyway, even without ADAT (wave-in at 48K and out to Phones), doesn't work correctly. I chould install the PCI-e card in a different slot (at the moment, it uses IRQ16...

Re: with 6 inputs crackles at higher sample rates
Ok, nice to know. Yes, everything is connected. I switched cables and nothing changed. The A-section is a little worse (more crackles) than B (that's why I'm using B at the moment). The crackles come from the monitored input. Original source is crackle free. At 32K and 44.1K the system is working fi...

Re: with 6 inputs crackles at higher sample rates
Slave mode: no audio
No answer from Holger or Juergen yet. Strange thing is, A16 should fold the channels if S/R > 48 , but nothing happens (audio is zero) in the short-cut (i.e. in connected directly to out).
master mode: audio
BNC works fine with external Wordclock. No answer from Holger or Juergen yet. Strange thing is, A16 should fold the channels if S/R > 48 , but nothing happens (audio is zero) in the short-cut (i.e. in connected directly to out).

Re: with 6 inputs crackles at higher sample rates
You might need to contact Joergen at Ferrofish and explain to him your situation. He's familiar with the SCOPE Platform since he use to partially own Sonic Core and developed for it. He also designed the converters for XITE-1. Have you tried connecting the ADATS to any other unit besides the A16 to...

Re: with 6 inputs crackles at higher sample rates
Yes, the PS for both units are correct. I too don't assume a HW failure at this point, because - as you said - HW failure on both separate units are most unlikely. I come to think of more a SW/configuration problem. Because setting the DSP affinity did change something regarding the problem. Is my u...

Re: with 6 inputs crackles at higher sample rates
Did ou also blow clean air into the adat ports? this is an issue several have seen, and air seemed to help out. Both devices are brandnew, but anyway, I tried. To my surprise, things got worse. Now 44.1 K is also crackling. Just for fun, I short-cut the A16 Ins and Outs and I hear no crackles up to...

Re: with 6 inputs crackles at higher sample rates
I installed a Wordclock today, and the behavior is exactly the same. I think, I can exclude bad cables/connectors. Funny thing is, that switch the DSP affinity helped a bit.

That helped (a little): now I can use 44.1K as S/R. There is still hope!

Re: with 6 inputs crackles at higher sample rates
I tried different TOS link cables/ports and the behaviour is always the same: 32K S/R: no crackle 44.1K : audio is there, but a lot of crackles 48: only crackles 96k: error message: No more SAT connections from DSP 11 to DSP 5. (Acutally only 1 DSP is active) Switching to Slave mode doesn't work too...

Re: with 6 inputs crackles at higher sample rates
Yes, but then I can't get anything on the ADAT out. I can see in SCOPE the sample rate, but no signal reaches the ADAT blocks. I also switched inputs to ADAT-B, but to no avail. BTW: when I switch to SLAVE mode in SCOPE, the cursor is always the busy one.

with 6 inputs crackles at higher sample rates
If the sample rate is set > 32K, on all channels (6 in/outs), I'm getting constant crackles. The xite is connected to a ferrofish A16 MkII ADAT. What's wrong?
I'm using a STM 16 SX mixer.

Can someone please tell me or direct me to dimensions of the xite-1 PCIe interface card? My MB is quite crowded and I need to know, where it may fit.

Re: Potential buyer's questions
And of course the base frequency of the filters depends on the input signal (adaptive filtering). Small delay=1048 or 2096 samples.tlaskows wrote:Yes, like a 64 band linear EQ. But it will have a small delay

Re: Potential buyer's questions
What I want to know is how does anyone do anything outside the time domain? Are you a time lord?! In the DSP universe, time is just a figment of your imagination (as is the frequency domain). Both domains are equivalent (as proven by Fourier), but in frequency domain, harmonics can be manipul...

Re: Potential buyer's questions
In all honesty, its the real good DSP programmers that will always have assembler in their pocket. Knowing assembler means knowing the instruction set and the architecture, and that's the only way to really map any intended math into a processor, especially with efficiency. Trusting tools to do the...

Re: Potential buyer's questions
Tom, you're absolutely right: an analog synthesizer is equivalent to an analog computer. Different objective, but same means. And yes, analog computers provided results for missile guidance (I don't think they were actually in the missile ). But if you look at all the DSP program symbols, the simila...
