Re: LOOP - MIDI Sequencer
sharc, Cool, look forward to trying this. Regarding other features, would it even be possible to record incoming midi data in a similar device? If so, are you planning something like that? Could it, gulp, have an editor of some sort? I know this has been tossed around the Z for a long time and the g...

Re: How to get the latest software
muswell, The ASIO is a connection between softwares, for instance Scope to Cubase nad back to Scope. These softwares would be using the hardware IOs (which don't exist in your current scenario, unless you have another soundcard with IO) to input/output sound from/to external devices, which would inc...

Re: How to get the latest software
muswell, 'voices' can be translated into 'how many notes you can play at one time.' That's a simplification, because it also can relate to how successive notes overlap (or not, this is called voice stealing). But consider that playing two keys at once requires two oscillators to begin to sound, and ...

Re: How to get the latest software
muswell, There are other variables with the Modular that contribute to the dsp load, such as the complexity of the patch, which modules are used, and the polyphony setting. Also, how many other devices (mixers, FX, etc.) you are using at the same time. I haven't worked much at 96kHz/24bit, but most ...

ristof, I think you forgot to log in as mailheist somewhere along the way, you're really missing your wingman, you know, your support guy. There's really only a couple of people here who don't understand what Garyb brings to this community, and you sound an awful lot like HEY, WAIT A MINUTE! ...

Re: Help!!! Complete Panic.
AM, Have you tried re-seating your video card? It's possible to bump when you are putting new memory (or whatever) into a computer. Also, beep codes can vary between BIOS manufacturers, although for the most-part they are very similar, so you may need to check multiple lists if you dont' know who ma...

Re: Help!!! Complete Panic.
Hey AM, Not good! Here's a couple of things to try. First, note the beep pattern (i.e., 3 short beeps, or a long beep followed by two short beeps, etc.) that you hear at power-on. These are usually debug info sent out by the BIOS to describe the error (not always). You can look up BIOS beep codes on...

Re: how to set default project loaded upon startup
doktorfuture, Not at my DAW right now, but open the project that you want as default, go to Settings in the menu from the Live Bar, select Projects, and then select Save as Default, and/or Save as New. The wording might be a bit different, but you'll get the idea when you get there. Also, you can se...

Re: STS Sample does not load any sample - low memory error
cascade, I've seen this as well. I can usually restore it by closing out scope (and my DAW first if it's already started), and re-starting scope. I have to do this most of the time, but once it's up, it's solid. Sometimes I need to shut down the entire system and power-cycle the XITE, but that is ve...

Re: First Sonic Core Xite-1 Test
doktorfuture, Love that crazy room, it looks like it could be out of the X-Files! I don't think I'd want to leave it... Try this with the VDAT (courtesy of Ralf D.): Starting with an empty project, load the VDAT, and assign it to DSP2. If you want to use the VRC-S, load it and assign it to DSP2 as w...

stardust, And yet you know, without ever touching one, that the newest generation won't be better! Even given a reviewer's claims that it far-surpassed his expectations. I bow down to your superior knowledge, presentation, and prescience. Oh wait, NTN also presented what you did not! I still bow dow...

Re: notebook with highest CPU?
No offense taken stardust, you were just posting an out-of-context quote and I was providing the context. The reviewer actually pointed to his impression that this set up actually accomplishes the "compromise" successfully, and that it is overcoming the heat/power limitations of a laptop. ...

Sorry Valis, the quote was more for stardust than you, that wasn't clear from my post. I understood that you were reading the reviewer's surprise correctly. stardust, I provided the rest of the quote because you missed his point. He is saying that, if you don't think it through, this would seem to b...

Re: Pc - dead. need new mobo advice.
ReD_MuZe, Regarding the processor, I normally would recommend a Duo, with the idea of upgrading in a couple of years. At this time there really isnt a compelling performance difference for most applications. If you will be using this for 3-4 years or until it dies, go for the Quad. In that time-fram...
