Re: When overclocking unlocked chips, beware!
Shizer, as soon as I enabled HT and leaving everything else the same, the CPU hits 95 degrees (compared to 83 max before) and it detects an error after 3-5 hours. Grrrr. Lowering the clock and voltage. So just to bring up the point again, don't consider your system stable until OCCT doesn't detect a...

Sorry, but someone bought them all
You should make your own. Just use good quality 3M connectors.

Re: Non K BCLK on i5 6500s
Getting OT here, But wow those Hollywood Woodwinds demo holy crap! Amazing man! I am more interested in the regular saxophones, flutes and stuff like that. Maybe some brass. Is this the best stuff out there right now? This makes my VL sound like a joke :( Will this take good advantage of my memory? ...

Re: Non K BCLK on i5 6500s
Ahh, thanks for the advice Gary... Maybe I'll get into big samples one day, I have no idea what the future holds. I know, I can make music with just a cheap 4 track or something. That's why I am simplifying things. Aye, I'll still stick around for advice although my scope is half gone  Thanks, ...

Re: Non K BCLK on i5 6500s
Hey Dawman,
I forgot to ask about memory speed in regards to audio work. I picked up some 2400MHz DDR3 today to test it. It's about 30GB/s bandwidth according to benchmarks. That's a lot faster than the old 1333 RAM I had. Will this help with anything?
Thanks!

Re: Non K BCLK on i5 6500s
 Yes, for sure Dawman. I will never play live. I don't even have time for music much. But things will slow down eventually and I will lay down some tracks :) Actually, wait! I used to play live --- but it was a clarinet in high school. I was very good at it until I learned how to program a synt...

Re: Non K BCLK on i5 6500s
That's a very nice mobo for sure! Are you from Argentina? I work with someone that's from there :) and few other people all over the place. I had to click translate on Chrome to convert the page to English. BTW, I turned Hyper Threading back on and I gained about 40% in integer and floating point pe...

Re: Non K BCLK on i5 6500s
Aye Dawman. That's a good bank for the buck for the chip, but my chip is old and will destroy those i5s. I know that they don't make mine anymore. I was just at the computer store and those new ones sell for a bit less than the older i7s.
Cheers,

Re: Non K BCLK on i5 6500s
The question is, can your new chip beat my 3 year old 400$ CAD chip? Mine is the red one: This shows you how fast the chip can crunch numbers both in integer and floating point. http://www.thomaslaskowski.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/4770k-@-4.6GHz-e1453147659418.png I did research and this was th...

Re: Non K BCLK on i5 6500s
Aye Nestor. I don't need my SSDs any faster. We got my friend an all in one and replaced the hard drive with 1TB EVO 850 SSD. When he clicks 'sleep' he has to be careful not to move the mouse at all or the computer wakes up right away! Isn't that fast enough? IOPS are good for random reads and write...

Yeah, I will a bit later. I had to find my old Uno USB MIDI interface so I can play the SID while adjusting parameters.

Re: I was looking around for the SID, but...
Well, the ring modulation might be a bit tricky to make it sound exactly the same. You have to do some research on how the SID was designed. The filter will not sound the same without custom code. The Jupiter-6 I sold a long time ago. This box only has the SID in it which happens to have an analog f...

Re: I was looking around for the SID, but...
Yes, I can.
If you have the SDK with being able to write DSP, there are a lot of emulations out there that you can borrow.
I will get you the filter later, it's a little bit complicated...

Re: I was looking around for the SID, but...
Very good mister!
It's pretty close to the SID. So why don't you create a module and sell it for a few bucks? Except the filter is not right on some sounds. You won't be able to emulate that...

Re: Non K BCLK on i5 6500s
Ahh! Cool, I have 2 of those m.2 drives in my Asus notebooks, but I don't think they're the fancy ones you're talking about. Yes, the IOPS will make a HUGE difference. My old crucial on the desktop PC is 80,000 IOPS (I just looked it up) and that is an older, cheaper drive. Is there a way you can ru...

Re: I was looking around for the SID, but...
Yes, not bad for a 1$ chip and about 50$ worth of parts :) I am almost done the last step which is putting it in a nice box. My homie is working on the vinyl panel that I drew. I gave him my actual panel so he can make adjustments so everything is printed in the right place. I can't wait to tweak th...
