The lowest setting the 1st generation Pulsar cards could go was 11ms. Thankfully newer cards become the timing master. Going down to 1-2ms *is* important if you're doing input monitoring through DX effects. But if you're just doing softsynths, 5.8ms is just fine. Many hardware synths give wor...

Well, PCI is 133MB/s, and I think Pulsar tries to make use of that bandwidth as much as possible, so I think CardBus must be at least that fast if they want to claim full PCI compatibility. FireWire is only 50MB/s (400Mb/s), which I don't think would be fast enough to handle the PCI bus, so CardBus ...

I can get down to 1.5ms with the beta drivers in Sonar, but unfortunately the audio keeps getting out of sync between different outputs at <20ms latency. Also other programs such as Winamp and Sound Forge crackle most of the time, so I just went back to the 3.1c final release drivers. They won't go ...

I think Giga sucks as a sampler. Its only attractive feature is the HD streaming. I haven't tried out HALion because Sonar doesn't have ASIO support yet, so I don't know if it's any better than Giga. But for most tasks I think that the STS beats Giga hands down. Do any other samplers support HD stre...

You can also try the Neutron Timegate device. It's an envelope-controlled dynamics processor that gates an insert effect by the incoming dry signal. It's really awesome. http://www.neutron7.com

Hi, I started a petition on Petition Online to get votes for full ASIO support in Sonar. Cakewalk has announced compatibility with Digidesign, but that doesn't mean that there'll be support for everybody else (like CreamWare). To cast your vote for full ASIO support in Sonar, go to this URL: http://...
