Slightly Off topic. In view of recent conversations about Hans Zimmers synths and studio.

I came across these:

in particular:

(those are modular synths NOT windows!)

Jealous me?

This months Sound On Sound magazine (uk but you can subscribe and read it online) has an article about Hans Zimmer. He raves about Creamware stuff big time - in particular John Bowens stuff and the new MiniMax whatnot.

The guy has a studio like you ...

There is only one problem with the upgrade - and that is:

Anyone got it yet? First reports?

Hey,

I know that problem. I think sometimes you get into a rut in life and the creativity stops. My advice would be to change your context - take a trip somewhere - don't even think about the music just go out an soak up stuff happening in the world - listen to the world around you. Spend time ...

I'm not going to mince words here: I found these substances vastly improved my experience of techno!

I know what you mean - as soon as I stopped taking drugs I got very bored with most techno - a good deal of it *only* makes sense in the context of an MDMA "rush". Prior to this I had been very ...

It would be nice to see a sampler for the pulsar that rather than being an emulation of hardware takes real advantage of the fact its a software enviroment.

Of all the soft samplers I have seen the one that has impressed me the most is Kontact - it really seems to push some boundaries although I ...

I think that this is a very valid topic for discussion.

For a long time in my life I induldged very heavily - including two periods of what I now realise was addiction to speed - but I have sampled most other drugs. I have been clean now for 7-8 years (can't quite remember the exact date I stopped ...

IF you really want to go down the evil general midi route (spit spit) then get a decent GM Soundfont and pop it in the STS (there are a few about - use google). There are actually some quite good ones around - but remember that most of the ones people actually listen to (I presume that you need to ...

You should be deleting, reformating and reinstalling your machines regularly (I reckon every 2-3 months) - as a developer I've got used to this (nothing f**ks up machines more than developing things on them ) but you will really notice the difference - get a CDR drive for backups if you haven ...

They should definitely get some new forumn software - have you seen the new phpBB? maybe they should try that.

Not having the bandwidth for very peak loads I can understand - there is no excuse for bad foumn software.

Mind you the forumns are full of so many whingers and people going ...

I assume by your "neophyte poster" status that you are new to this forum and looking into purchasing a creamware board.

First of all some info about the boards:

very very versatile
great sounding
not as stable as they might always be - certainly don't do a commercial project without being VERY ...

Yeah - a new interface - given that knobs are only virtual and therefore don't add anything to the cost - there is no real reason why there can't be more controls available at once.

Another odd little thing:

I was messing about last night trying a couple of ideas out for a track - loaded the ADAT modules in then realised that the basic mixer has no busses so I clicked in the live bar and replaced it with the trusty old pulsar mixer (or whatever its called now) - loaded in ...
