Re: BlackBox CWM
wow! Thanks a heap Roy! I sequence exactly the way you do in Live, so a sequencer is not a must for me. Would definitely use it though, as my SFP is used as hardware in it's own box, sequencing and recording is on another computer. Sometimes I fire up Scope without the DAW, and then a sequencer woul...

Re: BlackBox CWM
very nice device!!! definitely my favourite drum machine in Scope, in fact for years I have only used native for drums/percussion. if you're still looking for suggestions, I'd humbly ask for mutes for all instruments, preferably not at the end of the sound generators, but rather before, so sounds ca...

Re: The mastering process!
multiband processors, especially compressors are a snake pit! If you just slap it on the 2buss and fiddle about a bit, so don't really know the processes and can't identify what you are really doing, you'll probably do more damage than good. Now, I definitely am not an expert either, I just repeat w...

This is a guide to home master techno, or whatever electronic dance music, by a professional mastering engineer. I like that forum! Lot's of production techniques being discussed there.

Re: Logiquencer freeware
You don't need an audio to CV converter if the sound card outputs are "DC Coupled" (I think only RME does this), but I think there will also be latency. iirc, it is MOTU that has DC-coupled outs (on most of their interfaces). Some RME interfaces have their headphone outs DC-coupled. There is a list...

Re: BOSS SY 300 Guitar Synthesizer
You have Alphonso's 'Zing' patch that could be found in the VIP patch section of Adern's forum, but that seems down. (not at home right now either)
but yeah, that is a mono patch.
for midified guitar, I use jamorigin: https://www.jamorigin.com/

Re: Letter From Fairlight 1982
nice one! Already a millionaire back then? My latest bought software is the UVI darklight, which is a very inspirational tool to me, and does indeed have those sounds everyone will recognize from the eighties hits. It does have that 'lofi' 12bit sound that today's producers are looking for in bitcru...

never tried it myself, but I think you won't hurt anything. you'll hear whether it works or not.

Re: Mastering and mixing
as anabella said, use reference tracks, but maybe lower them by 6dB or something. first, try and fix things in the mix. mastering should not be a process to correct bad mixing. use very gentle eq (no narrow cuts/boosts, only by small amounts) compress very lightly, max 2 or 3 dB attenuation, very lo...

Re: scope + eurorack integration?
I assume xite-1 is DC capable interface and can be used for this. no, xite can not be used for this directly, if not mistaken. you could however connect a dc capable interface to xite through ADAT, like an old Motu 828. there's a whole list with dc coupled I/O on the expert sleepers site. or, you c...

spaceF CC2, CC5 or CC8, but I guess you'll have to PM Mehdi, as his site is down, and I can't find a dedicated thread in the Devices section. Maybe it was part of the BlackBox bundle.

Re: Anyone into Eventide VST Plugins?
During the last Black Friday sales, I got the Anthology X bundle insanely cheap. (I already had two plugs I once bought at a bargain introductory price, with the recent sale got another two plugs for $29, so was allowed to upgrade to the entire bundle for only $99!) Empressor is great, so is of cour...

We have a new terrorist problem that was create by our leaders. As I'm reconverting the house and studio, my scope rig is packed, so can't check, and it's a bit unclear to me from reading that page... but what could it mean for guys with a combined setup (Xite and PCI)? From the first quick look, I wouldn't hold my breath. At the moment I have the PCI setup goin...

Nice one! Thanks for the memories! I was heavily into McLaughlin 20+ years ago. Mahavishnu, Davis' Bitches Brew and Zappa were a big influence on the band I was in then. I regularly put on a Zappa record (actually saw Banned from Utopia a few weeks ago in a bar for god sake! Albert Wing was on fire!...

Re: documentary about the birth of electronic music
It was a good watch! funny seeing the original adds for 303 and 606 with Oscar Peterson and how the intentional use of the classic Roland dance classics was a fail. Egyptian Lover? Never heard of him, but sounds nice. I was a bit disappointed when they jumped from early Detroit Techno to (the indeed...
