Re: Definitive Scope PCI card host PC?

Digging around for info on how to space the screws to get the right downward pressure and height, shows that our global brain needs better search tools once something is out of cultural fashion. Silentpcreview.com is the only content I'm finding that references anything remotely useful, and the most...

Re: what is the "soundcard module" supposed to be?

It doesn't use a low latency audio path, so you're going to have a minimum of 150-250ms delay in the audio and quite likely much higher.

Re: Definitive Scope PCI card host PC?

Not sure which mobile CPU's had on-die thermal sensors in that era, but a good deal of the P4 era still had that off-die and just on the substrate (next to the chip) so thermals were only a rough correlator to overheating. Core & Core2 era brought on-die sensors & TDP limits... As for shims,...

Re: PCI Express x1 to PCI/PCI-X Adapter Card

There's a massive array of boards out there, the ones that our userbase has tried typically get posted here. So if you don't see the report... GaryB is correct, boards meant for systems integration (used as a larger project's deployment) are the ones you want to find, they will typically be much ugl...

Re: Definitive Scope PCI card host PC?

So you'll want to treat it like a de-lidded chip, which started in that era for people who still wanted to OC with p4's. Might be able to find some relevant info on how to adjust the height or swap standoffs etc...

Re: Copy protection error Xite-1

Please try Xite & PC on the same power chain, with a similar length of cable to reach each. Sometimes called 'star' or 'octopus' pattern for power distribution. They are electrically grounded via the cable that connects them, and a variety of factors including USB ports and power supply can affe...

Re: Buying a card with Scope 4.5 keys

Interesting, I missed those models when I was using SGI's. I did use comparable machines, but not with the same software I used on SGI (Softimage/Alias) until later.

Re: VST pops and clicks

Do you mean lock to a cpu core? You can't do that on a modern CPU, the power & speed-step implementations are much more complex. It shouldn't be necessary once you have the CPU properly set to do 100% on your Win10 power profile. What you *will* need to do in the BIOS/EFI is ensure that you have...

Re: Routing Xite Effects to external mixing board

Keep in mind that someone is responding to these threads and removing their response (and their user account, in some cases). We've been under attack again, but I haven't bothered to announce that as the new server is holding up fine (much better than last December) and so hopefully the worst we far...

Re: VST pops and clicks

Let it trim as frequently as it wants to imho , TRIM is defined by the usage of the drive and isn't really the same as defragging (which we could just defer until ready as long as enough spare drive space was left to accomplish the task). What TRIM does is go back and 'recover' blocks that have bee...

Re: VST pops and clicks

HD contains a pagefile (plus you have background processes), and will even TRIM etc when idle. So HD accesses that you can't correlate to the user processes / current working set are normal in a modern PC. GPU drivers, Checking IPC issues (DPC Latency, how the system performs when you're not set to ...

Re: Definitive Scope PCI card host PC?

I started with an Athlon MP (duallie) and then a Tualatin when the MP had useless USB and needing to use a PCI card for that conflicted with Scope. The Tualatin was great actually, but I migrated to a dual p4 rig which actually still runs my Scope cards today. I've been meaning to move them into a 2...

Re: TUTOR VIDEO - Make a synth in Scope SDK in less than an hour

I don't imagine it will cause irreversible damage, so it can't hurt to try it. But I have no idea if the key method is compatible, or if it might be the case that you need to enter each key so that the string can be calculated from within the SDK version of the software. That shouldn't be hard to ve...

Re: Buying a card with Scope 4.5 keys

Scope 7 will run on everything back to XP, not sure about Win2k for even 4.5 (nor why you'd want that over XP tbh).

You're correct the keys are locked to a given card in question, fyi.

I see boards on here frequently, and occasionally on Reverb/Ebay as well. Good luck!

Re: Routing Xite Effects to external mixing board

What you have there is useful as a send/return loop for a single stereo pair. Combining multiple effects might be what you want, but you're correct that anything sent through that signal path would be returned to the board 'as is' because...that's how the signal path is setup. What is it you're tryi...

Re: TUTOR VIDEO - Make a synth in Scope SDK in less than an hour

nebelfuerst, Your SDK keyfile doesn't get 'seen' by SDK from normal Scope install, they're separate directory structures. Tbh, I have no idea what happens with devices you don't have discrete keys for in SDK, so trying to add that device might have failed because it's covered by the basic Scope 5.x/...

Re: Definitive Scope PCI card host PC?

I have an older P4-M lying about, I recall grabbing it for $15 because it was the fastest (and coolest running) ever supported on a desktop board. I'll have a look and let you know what model it is later this evening or tomorrow. Have to dig in my closet 'o parts and find it...
