For those of you that are interested, there's an advert for a whole new orchestral sample library in this month's Sound-on-Sound.

Info and demos can be found at:

http://www.vsl.co.at

Only for Giga and E-magic though.

Isn't it about time Creamware started to produce their own sample libraries if ...

There seems to some clue in the replies to the Dark Star post in the Devices forum.

John Bowen gives the impression that all the devices available to the developers are in the Modular, while someone mentions a multiwave osc that isn't. (is that included in the V 3?).

Also, if the Mod 3 has more of ...

Hi ya Paul,

I suppose you mean 'Harmolodics'? although I think he tried to move away from chord progressions as such. Here's a good link that has some stuff about harmolodics:

Anyway, as far as I see it, all jazz can be called 'random ...

It's pushing it a bit far to say that Mozart was some sort of 18th Century Stockhausen, but what he did do and what was fashionable at the time, was to compose a two-voice minuet where certain bars were interchangeable with others composed with the same harmonic function.
A good link is:

1 The strong dominant type
2 The er-um, I not sure type
3 Or the complete neurotic paranoid type.

Sibelius is £500 bad!
If you want professional looking scores to print out it might, (just might), be worth it, but only if you're looking for 'modern' score-writing procedures.
I use a shareware programme called Noteworthy Composer, (which I registered). its about £25 but don't let that put you off ...

Hi ya Nestor,

I like your piece, but I would suggest for more 'clarity', accentuate the structure / sections with more textural and timbral contrast, it has the feeling of an 'aural shower'. (but, as usual, that might be exactly what you wanted!).

I'd also like to know which score-writing software ...

Just as an aside, it looks as though you can't run SX on the 95/98/Millenium platform.

For those users, an upgrade there as well.

Thanks for your list Mr. Topaz, but I think you failed to answer most of my questions:

The whole point about what I'm saying is, why do the things that matter most in other types of music, fail to have any relevance
in 'disco' music? Melody? 'Don't need it'!, Harmony? 'What for'!, Dynamics? 'Who'll ...

Hi ya Nestor,

This is nice if you like Delius!

As a serious criticism, I think your melody has no 'movement'. By that I mean the melody changes on the beat and so does the harmony. Where're the suspensions and the anticipations?

Its OK for a few bars, but not the whole way through, try going over ...

Well, I've got some response.

When I floated this idea, it wasn't just idle speculation. It was based on two experiences in the 'real world'. That is to say, the selling of your music.
The first, I have some experience of; which is, footslogging around as many record shops, pluggers and ...

Is it a viable proposition?

This is an idea I've been thinking about, and I thought I would see what the rest of you make of it.

In this age of MP3s and Internet access it may no be such a good idea, but what do you ...
