I’ve been using 6 msec. / 256 samples / 44.1k forever.
That´s exactly what I use too since I bought Cubase SX3 and a RME/Nuendo card and AD/DA in 2002/2003.

Re: Windows 10 - what do I need to look out for?

Well when I tried upgrading from 8.1 for “free” years back it froze @ 99% several times and I was lucky to get back to 8.1. After that they installed a file somewhere that nagged my ass like an angry wife to buy W10. Arrgh ... thx for that reply,- its´ what I feared ! I really like it but it’s beca...

Re: Windows 10 - what do I need to look out for?

I’m concerned about not being online all the time. Will dubya 10 do stupid shit from that? I always hook it up to check for updates when I’m not gigging. But noticed it sometimes won’t let tha LAN LEDs on the faceplate side light up, and acts like it’s disconnected. I’d hate to have crap go wrong w...

Re: Windows 10 - what do I need to look out for?

A. Turning off EIST means that the cpu always runs at full speed. EIST is strictly for power saving. B. it means that the CPU is not throttled down to save energy. just set the cpu to 100% minimum and maximum. C. disable it. you NEVER want the cpu clock stopped. D. not too important, but unneeded. ...

then it IS in the bios, or there's a newer bios. however, Turbo isn't the biggest enemy. the is EIST. O.k., thx for you input even it´s off topic and has nothimng to do w/ Win10 urgently. I´m favorizing the Lenovo w540 for SCOPE/XITE-1 standalone operation since it offers a Intel i7 Haswell dual- o...

Re: Windows 10 - what do I need to look out for?

you can look at the bios options in the support section for the manufacturers of those laptops. You mean, when downloading the manual ? :) Bud uh....yeah. :D Well, I downloaded manuals for a HP and a Lenovo W540 which I´d prefer ´cause there are much more BIOS options accessable for the user. I´d s...

Re: Windows 10 - what do I need to look out for?

I've used a Lenovo W510, but think any W5 series with an Express card slot will work. Hmm, these are very old ones. I´d try to find a i7, 4th gen or even younger i5 quad. It´s all about TDP. For scope, I ended up building a 1U PC, i5-4690k based, and it is Rock solid. I'd recommend building a 1U ov...

sorry to disagree, but using the polyphony of a single sampler as a DAW benchmark is pointless to even misleading ;)
When they used NI Kontakt, it depends on if they used "Multi"s or not ...

And more below there are the results running several instances,- no ?

Re: Windows 10 - what do I need to look out for?

dunno about the cable. it might work, but i really don't think so because the interface that modulates the flow of data between computer and XITE will be missing. Aaarghhhh,- I´m an idiot ignoring the "interface",- I didn´t think about it´s in the PCIexpress card. Thunderbolt of any flavor will wor...

After endless bitching this review site finally adopted Vinnies DAWBench tests. So anytime you want to check out ASIO Performance from reviewers who gain nothing from Digital Audio Tests, other than satisfying a niche group of readers, check these guys out. Can’t wait to see the AMDs this summer. h...

no, not at the moment. i still have my old Vostro 1400, which does work great, but it's a little old now. Well, I also thought about buying a used, older laptop, did some search for refurbished Lenovo and HP models, preferable something Intel i5 / i7 3rd, better 4th generation. But I never had a ch...

Re: Windows 10 - what do I need to look out for?

win10 should work just fine. Gary,- once I´ve seen a pic you using a laptop w/ XITE-1,- IIRC from former NAMM (or Musikmesse ?). So,- do you use any laptop w/ Win 10 and SCOPE 7 actually,- and if YES, which laptop ? For me, it´s all about I´d like to use XITE-1, S|C A16U and SCOPE 7standalone w/ a ...

Re: Windows 10 - what do I need to look out for?

... Windows 10... Disabling Cortana and One Drive make 10 a breeze. Mine is online when not gigging. Updated only once but it was odd that it updated when I just set the rig back up and the 100 foot LAN Line wasn’t yet connected. I guess it loads files then updates when it wants? Wow, l didn´t know...
