Re: Definitive PC?

Is there a better board than the one I currently have (Intel DH55HC, BIOS TCIBX10H.86A.0037.2010.0614.1712 06/14/2010)? WinXP 32bit dedicated non internet connected system with most non-necessary services disabled. Its an old 1156 board, but I am getting PCI limit reached errors with only half of 21...

Re: Scope 7

Upgraded from Scope 4.5 to 7 here on a stand alone WinXP 32bit machine here and all is working well. If anyone else is upgrading from v4, make sure you hit the "Paste From Clipboard" for the new V7 Key. That caught me out. Used to be a whizz at scope but haven't used it for years and forgotten every...

Props to the Mesa 1516B cab. Used to own one of those. Great sounding cab. Wished I'd never sold it.

Hi Mr suave-est of the Suave F's,

Do you have AV programs running on that machine? Have you tried a *clean* install of XP?

Re: Fast Cars

Yep, drove all the way there and back with my wife and kid. But I took us off the main roads where ever I could and went cross country so we were on our own for most of the trip on dirt roads/tracks. In three weeks we drove over 9000K's and bush camped wherever possible. Uluru was great but Lake Mun...

Re: Ferrofish AE

..... I was referring to the signal quality of ADAT I/Os through my rig (WRDA-7 -> Pulsar I 4dsp). Could just be the cabling as I borrowed an ADATxt and had the same results (used 48 & 44.1 and no real difference in audio quality). ..... There must be another problem then. I used to use a DA7 over ...

A while ago I had a job to level out backng tracks for a female vocal trio. Normalise doesn' work, limiting doesn't work. Digital peak meters don't work. All that...

Always Ever Edit

Mixed in scope using Timeworks EZ-Verb, Timeworks Vintage EQ, Vinco, STM 4896, stock gates, filters. Nothing else. Its not mastered either. Straight off the mix bus so not loud but there's dynamics! Just not sure of the bass levels.

Re: Online Session Musicians - any good ?

Just had a listen to this. Its really good. Your vocal definitely sits better. Nasal vocal is just technique which you'll get better at. What about a couple of singing lessons just to pick up technique like using your diaphragm etc. Also make sure you are singing level with the mic and not up into i...

Re: Took The Plunge Scope 5.1

Getting off-topic but oh well... So Dante, I nearly went for Bryston but then ended up with a Brook Audio NS10AMP designed and hand built by a Mr Hornybrook (from Melbourne I think) which is what the PMC Distributor here in OZ used to demo with. Way back when they were still being made Prince bought...

Re: Top Three Albums of the 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's

One of the main reasons why i have become less interested in buying/listening to music from the last 10 years or so is because of the lack of dynamic range (loudness wars). Occasionally something comes along that I like but it certainly is way less frequent than it used to be!

I'm not a real musician. I don't have any albums from the 60's or 70's.

80s
U2 - Joshua Tree
Paul Simon - Graceland
Simple Minds - Live in the City of Light

90s
Fishbone - Reality Of My Surroundings
Peter Gabriel - Us
Big Wreck - In Loving Memory Of
