actually the new hdd is fine. we tried using a different hdd, different cables. we are stuck. my friend who is helping me is very experienced in these matters (he has 8 PC's!) and says he has never encountered a problem like this. could it be a fault mobo? faulty bios? what?

ps - not saying you have nothing to be pissed off about.

i just think it's easy get so caught up in trying to get everything to work properly that you forget to make music, which you can do using one synth.

i spent a year getting angry with my pulsar. i realised what i was doing was using it as an excuse not to make music. if you have problems, in a modern pc setup with lots of different software, you can always find ways round, there are almost always many different ways to achieve the same result. if...

it sounds like you are hearing exactly the same noise as me..

if you didn't hear it on a digital recording, then perhaps the noise comes only from the analog out.

if so then it will not be present in any recordings, and so is not really a major problem.

ps the noise disappears when performing certain operations. suggests it can be got rid of. if it was interference from the fan i imagine the noise would be constant. i posted about this problem a while back, but i didn't realise then it was only asio. i thought perhaps this new piece of information ...

no i have always had this problem.

if it is a noisy fan, then why don't i get the noise from directsound? it is only asio. if asio source is not connected to analog dest, it's as quiet as a mouse.

my pulsar II works fine, except that asio source is very noisy. mid/high frequency jittery computer interference type noise. any ideas? perhaps a cubase 5 problem?

??? it's when the filter's nearly closed that you get the big bass sounds out of a 106. uknow007 just can't do this. but i guess it just goes to show it's a matter of opinion. tuning's not something that bothers me particularly either, i'm into really f**ked up techno music where things being out of...
