Native Instruments Kontrol S61 vs. older Scope-Pulsar setup
hi Folks, been out of the flow for a few years doing DAW work with my old Scope-Pulsar setup, and I'm looking to upgrade my old Korg Trinity to a spiffy new keyboard from Native Instruments called the Kontrol S61. Trouble is, I'm not sure if my old Dell computer (OPTIPLEX 760) running Windows 7 + my...

Crackles in audio with Reaper
hi People, I've been using Reaper with my Scope 5.1 setup for quite a while, but lately I've noticed I'm regularly getting "crackles" in my audio. These are just single internittant spikes in the audio, causing a sharp crackling like sound. I checked the output of my Korg trinity and it's ...

Re: Advice on multi-track recording...?
thanks to all for some amazing hints and insights on drum kit recording! we're gearing up to do the session in about 2 weeks; looks like we're going to be using the Scarlett 18i20 interface into my Mac Powerbook via Reaper for mono drum tracks. We're going to look at possibly hanging a couple of cei...

Re: Advice on multi-track recording...?
You can easily stream 16 tracks through the adat interface using asio. Did that a lot with pulsar on pentium2 450 mhz. Any DAW will manage that. What is the sound you're looking for. Pop/rock....jazz.... All sorts of combos are possible. First thing for all recording ways; well tuned kit and a good...

Re: Advice on multi-track recording...?
AD 1) It would surprise me a lot if your mac couldn't handle recording 8 mono tracks simultaneously in reaper! AD 2) Any Analogue-Digital-converter that you can connect to your Scope cards fx through Adat would be a possible solution. You would propably need pre-amps of some kind also between AD-co...

Advice on multi-track recording...?
Hi People, I've had my home studio with Pulsar 1 & 2 for many years now, and still enjoying it, but have a new project that is challenging. A friend who has a huge drum set is getting me to live-record him playing a session. We plan to set up 8 mic's at various locations to focus on kicks, snare...

Norton fingering SCOPE "sys" files as "bad"...
hi folks, my Win7 has been good since I installed it about 3 years back; however lately I have gotten a browser hijack on Chrome. Because I'm mostly "Mac User Convert" now, I only use my PC for audio projects and I am not up to par on the latest virus / trojan scenes in the Windows world a...

Re: Reaper update / driver issues
thanks Yaya ... what I had in mind was not so much transposing after it's recorded, but transposing "live" (on the fly), so you actually HEAR the transposed note "Live" as you're practicing or recording. Seems that was always a no-brainer with Cakewalk or Sonar.

Re: Reaper update / driver issues (solved! add "transpose"
hi YaYaJohn, I fixed it. I ran the utilities that came with it - the reset to default, then the "show audio config" and I managed to re-set everything so that it recognizes the native SCOPE / ASIO stuff ok. Odd, because I've updated Reaper many times, but never had to go thru this before. ...

Reaper update / driver issues
hi Folks been using Reaper for a while now, and generally pretty happy with it as a sequencer. But, just updated to most recent version and something screwed up. Booted up Reaper and all my normal SCOPE-ASIO connections now showed up as "ReaRoute", and were not useable. I googled a bit, se...

Re: question about mixers / inputs (Pulsar 1 & 2)
HI Gary, Thanks for a great suggestion. There was one music store in town that had an ADA-8000, so I grabbed it! Not a bad deal for $220! Seems to be working pretty good so far. Synth inputs are good. Drum machine is good. Acoustic Guitar w pickup is good. Old dynamic mic doesn't quite have enough j...

question about mixers / inputs (Pulsar 1 & 2)
hi people, I'm running an old Pulsar setup, cards 1 & 2 in parallel on a Windows 7 PC. All is working fine, but I'm wanting to re-configure my input array, which is little haphazard and confusing. I'm basically using an old Tascam 16-channel mixer as a hitching post for guitar, mic & synth1 ...

Re: some issues with the ZARG SYNTH installations ...
thanks to all for input! yeah, I recall GaryB mentioning when I upgraded to 5.1/64bit that sample players were now "kaput". Gotta burn that into memory. i did indeed copy those 64bit sys files over to App/Sys. I guess for Ambient & Dark Star, I'll have to create my own patches; can't t...

Re: some issues with the ZARG SYNTH installations ...
Yes I have had BSOD's with Ambient it actually crashed just after authorizing it! And I also had all the above missing file warnings, but this is not a gripe would gladly pay for a optimized Xite version. @ Gary 101 as a matter of interest ..have you the card and what version ? or are you on Xite I...

some issues with the ZARG SYNTH installations ...
hi Folks, just got the keys for the Zarg synth package; some issues with install ... 1. Q-WAVE device gives an error of DSP file JBMidEV.vxd not found, but this file is in the App/Vxd folder; same thing for the JBCtrlDy.vxd + JBMidPs.vxd + JBCtrlSh.vxd 2. AMBIENT crashes (BSOD, game over) when loadi...

question about Zarg synths & DSP useage ...
Hi,
I'm running some older Creamware hardware (Pulsar I + Pulsar II in parallel) ...
is this enough power to run the synths that are on sale here?
Currently, I can run about 3 or 4 synths concurrently with only
1 or 2 voices on each patch.
thanks

Re: clicks and pops in SONAR
hi Gary, I was using ASIO. I tried switching to ASIO2 modules, and switched OFF Sonar's input monitor switch; even less crackling, but still odd pops. I'm checking out REAPER 64. So far, it looks promising. Mixed 3 mono tracks without a single pop, still using ASIO2. it's quite the learning curve. (...

clicks and pops in SONAR
Has anyone had problems with clicks and pops when playing / recording in SONAR? Have been experimenting with various SONAR settings, trying to get the best ASIO thing happening. Bad thing was to try bringing down the "device mgr" (pulsar) settings to 16 bit from 24. (i work mostly in 16). ...
