S4L - you're into psytrance? HA HA! You know, around my area there are a lot of, er... not-so-legitimate parties where they play that shit all night! If I'm honest, I'm not the biggest fan - I need a lot of 'chemical encouragement' before I'll dance to that stuff for 8 hours on the trot! All good th...

Thank you all! I'm dead chuffed, really! OK, here's how it was done: the drum samples you hear at the beginning are from a mixture of individual drum hit samples (sorry, can't remember which ones!), and some came from the Roland synth that comes with Sonar - pretty much all the samples (including th...

PLUS FUCKING ONE!!! Right on mate, and annoyingly there's no way to assign a MIDI CC number to the transport controls! Am I being a numpty here? I must confess I can't remember if I've tried assigning CC numbers to the transport controls in VRC-S or VRC-128... I've got a feeling I tried and it wasn'...

Cheers Piddi - I'm blushing!

Yeah, that's the sort of sound I had in mind. I don't know what it is about jungle that makes me go slightly mental, but it does!

Thanks!

Strictly badboy riddims...

Hello!

This is my first post in the music forum, so please go easy on me...

Other than to say that I haven't properly finished it, I'll let the track speak for itself.

Cheers!

Stupid question: How come your screenshot shows 16 channels coming from/going to ADAT Source & ADAT Dest, when on my setup, I have 2 x 8 channels of ADAT A Source/Dest, and ADAT B Source/Dest?

Hi Jimmy, Yes, like the previous dude, I'd be surprised if you hadn't figured these things out within a minute of loading VDAT for the first time... it really is that simple! Funnily enough, I was taking a dump at work today (as one does), and naturally we keep a load of back-issues in the bog (that...

Hi Diminu, Can I ask if there's a specific, practical reason for you needing to have absolutely zero content below 40Hz? The only other way to achieve this, beyond a practically impossible-to-implement brickwall filter at 40Hz, would be to choose a very shallow filter (so as not to attenuate too muc...

The frequency that you set the low/high cut filters to work at is (I think) the frequency at which they begin to cut, and above/below that frequency they will attenuate at whatever dB/octave slope you've chosen (24dB Octave means that, at one octave below the frequency you set the low-cut fil...

Wotcha! Since I'm quite bored and don't have a lot to do, I might do a test on my Klark Teknik DN780. Only thing is, I don't know if it's just the unit's age or if it's actually a bit buggered, but it is VERY noisy (acoustically, because of a fan, but also electrically). With nothing going into it, ...

Hi Casey,

It was just a loan model for the review - unfortunately we don't ge to keep the review models! I think SCV were quite keen to get it back as well, so I didn't get to hear it myself :-(

Cheers!

Don't even get me started on couriers... In the short time I've been at my current job, I've known TNT to destroy a brand-new Toft ATB24 console, Parcelforce have trashed a MARS modular synth worth a couple of grand, and one of the SOS reviewers spotted City Link throwing a Novation synth over a fen...

Casey - Your location, is that Cambridge UK? That's where I'm based! Funny that, I think I just sent the SOS review model back to SCV London (your UK distributors, I believe?) Not sure if you've seen it yet, but the review is in the February 2008 issue. Needless to say, Paul White was quite taken wi...

Hi there, I have to confess I didn't read all your post - but the bit that said 'Media Center Edition' rang an alarm bell for me... I've only heard bad things about using MCE for music production. Just to check, have you eliminated this from anything that might be causing problems? I don't think man...

Bugs? Inaccurate manuals? Don't be silly, this is PlanetZ! :P

I'm still waiting (in hope) for someone to tell me I'm doing something wrong though. I've tried RW and FF during playback, after pressing stop, after disengaging the tape, and through the VRC, and it still doesn't scrub!
