Samplaire is correct, it is the MDD.

If by "installing from the HD", you meant to drag the SFP file off the CD onto the desktop, then install, I have tried that; the SFP installer won't open from the desktop, only from the CD.

Actually, I left the SFP installation running to see if it would complete, but after waiting 10 minutes, the OS froze again.
