Hi Tom, You're quite right. I'm sure there will be more industrial motherboards for years to come with PCI slots (not from Apple though). I tend to buy server-boards myself. I want my audio systems to last more than a year or so. I grudgingly moved from an Asus PD-DL Deluxe Dual Xeon board - an exce...

Hi krizrox, With the trouble and expense I've gone to so far with this debarkle, I wouldn't quite think of it as "throwing in the towel". Sorry, but for now I will not be off-loading the unit. It will stand as a solemn reminder that I should do my homework or at least know what I'm up agai...

One of the main reasons I cannot and will not send the unit back to SonicCore is that I've already replaced it with a MOTU 2408mkIII. No fancy routing, but the simplicity and stability of it is quite welcome. Not to mention the forward compatability. It's become increasingly worrying to me that I wo...

Hi krizrox, I appreciate the response, but as I detailed to garyb, this is nothing to do with cabling. Of course, the cables were one of the first things I eliminated from the equation - as anybody who knows anything about fault finding should - as I am quite aware of cabling issues with Z-Link. I d...

Conclusion? SonicCore refuse to "publish" the technical diagrams that would allow the unit to be repaired locally. Intereting that I have a couple of different (much more expensive) devices that come with their block and circuit diagrams printed in their manual SO THAT THEY CAN BE REPAIRED...

Hi Roman, That message usually pops up when SFP has installed but the hardware can't be found for some reason. The first thing you need to check is that in "Device Manager" - located in the "Hardware" tab in "System" in Windows Control Panel - that whichever card you ha...

Thanks Tom, System Link is not my cup of tea, I can see I'll be forced to use it eventually, but I'll avoid it as long as possible. I have the advantage of being supplied by Steinberg, the licence for every bit of software they do on a timed but renewable dongle. The good ol' SRC (Steinberg Red Key)...

Hi TFIN, Just a few corrections to this thread. VST System Link is NOT CRAP! It is one of, if not the most accurate synchronisation and positioning systems available. It is not, however, all that intuitive to set up. The basic theory (which you probably already know) is that System Link uses one of ...

Oh, and bye the way, Just looking back through the forum, I'm noticing an increasing number of people complaining of 'clicks and crackles' and 'wave driver recording problems' and issues which to me say, the number of mainboards and chipset controllers that are still useable with Scope cards is rapi...

Yeah, I metnioned that in passing in the first post on this thread. The PSU is confirmed to be working just fine unloaded and under load. I refer to the drivers in that XTC especially does not support multi-thread processing. I specifically bought a 14 DSP booster to spec out my system for XTC mode ...

Yeah I know. Sometimes it's things you really wouldn't expect. Such as: in the shop where I work, we got a much higher percentage of failures from Mackie mixers than Behringers. I guess I just get a bit disappointed having bought a high quality German-made product and seemingly for no reason at all ...

Hi garyb, I appreciate you suggestions. I have certainly been a victim, on countless occasions, of cables either suddenly failing, or inexplicably not working from first connection. Try them on something else and they work fine, and try a different cable on the the same piece of equipment and it too...

Hi kyunghwee, I was hoping I would spark you attention on this because it was your thread I had discussed this on previously. Thanks for responding. It's a bit of a shame that SonicCore didn't tell you what went wrong or how it was fixed, but they can't deny that they've seen and repaired the proble...

hubird, Have you priced up freight in Australia? Have you tried doing some price comparisons of music products in Australia to the rest of the world? * M-Audio Project Mix US$1599.99 rrp * On current exchange rates that should translate to AU$1769.72. Let's say AU$1800 including the shipping. * Actu...

Hi garyb, The local 'shop' is actually the official repair centre in Australia for Roland (and Roland off-shoots) Zoom, Yorkville, M-Audio, Alesis etc etc. the list goes on. The other guy who I'm thinking of has been the official repairer for any gear coming through the now ex-importer of Creamware....

Hi Bifop & astroman, Thanks for the replies. Any information helps. The unfortunate thing for me is that I'm in Australia and it's going to be a mighty expensive exercise to get my out-of-warranty A16 Ultra over to SonicCore (I'm not even sure where it would need to go...Germany?) and then have ...

A16 Ultra Faulty

Hi, I have discussed this briefly in a previous post but nothing was ever resolved. I have had an A16 Ultra now for about 2 and a half years during which it was treated extremely well. After moving house a couple of months ago I hooked the unit up and turned it on. I noticed after a couple of mintue...

If by "Mr. Buddy" you mean 'Audio Buddy', the cheap and cheerful M-Audio brand two channel mic pre that is made in China, that I've owned for much longer than my A16 Ultra and that I've treated far worse? Yes. It is still in use for random jobs and going strong.

Cheers,

Hi, Closer to the front. That's why you missed the second row when you opened the box up. In terms of getting the box closed again, it's really just a matter of jigging the jacks around in their holes unitl they all fit. ( I know that sounds over-simplified but it's what I did). Not too worried abou...
