Re: Some Keys not working

no, v7 uses v5 keys for optional devices.

be sure you have 64bit files. be sure that you don't mix up PCI and XITE files.
you could also install v7 on top of an old v5 installation that has all the correct files in place.

Re: HP xw4600 very hot

it might be. a PC like an XW series is made for use as a 24/7 workstation. it's cooling is normally sufficient. there is an air filter that can get clogged, and it's possible that the fans are working, but not working as they should. you should not need any extraordinary efforts. i use 2 15 dsp card...

Re: HP xw4600 very hot

yes, that will work. Noctua makes a good product. i have one.
yes, a 3 pin fan will work, but you'll want an adapter cable.

Re: HP xw4600 very hot

disable usb ports that share an irq with the cards. do this in the device manager.
use a usb hub, if necessary.

however, if everything works properly, don't do anything....

Re: HP xw4600 very hot

the xw series is pretty quiet when there is a good fan.
i would replace any overly noisy fans. a fan with a bad bearing might not cool too well.

oh yes!
for win10 32bit, you need 4gb of ram.
for win10 64bit, at least 8gb of ram....

Re: Combining Pulsar 1 with newer PCI boards in V7

you do need to disable power stepping.
you do need to check for shared irqs.
there is a "setting up your computer" thread, and while it's about win7 mostly, the same basic principles apply.

a core2 running win10 should definitely work.

when you get the message, can you retry? does it work then?

Re: Combining Pulsar 1 with newer PCI boards in V7

a pulsar1 will always reduce PCI performance. that's just how it is. that might still be ok, however. it really depends on what you use and how you use it. even though PCI performance will be reduced, that doesn't make the system useless, it just means that it won't allow as much PCI traffic as a se...

Re: An Experiment with 3 scope cards ( seems to be working)

it does not matter. if the extender provided poor performance, it would be obvious from the MV test.
