I just closed Scope while my DAW was playing on my XP machine with 3 Pulsar II cards. It didn't take the machine down! Wow!
Even reopening Scope with the DAW still open works. This is amazing!

Re: WTB: Pulsar 2 gen 2
It really was a mess before. I've now got the audio IOs terminated into the back of a Behringer Ultrapatch Pro. I've also put an 8" strip light into the back of the rack in case I need to do any open heart surgery!

WTB: Pulsar 2 gen 2
Hi all
I need a gen2 6 dsp scope card to replace one of mine that keeps losing its connection to the others. I don't mind which plate it has or even if it has a cable whip. I've built my own IO breakout.

I'm in Northampton, UK.
Thanks
Alan

Re: B75 Motherboard arriving next week
Hi. I've just noticed this post from over a week ago. Bit busy with the day job!
I am still working on the P5K. The B75 board proved to be problematic; one of the four PCI slots appeared to have a problem recognising devices plugged into it so I'm using it elsewhere for non music stuff. I don't ...

Re: B75 Motherboard arriving next week
Let us know if it's good for Scope cards.
It appears to be OK for Scope cards, not brilliant. The Masterverb test generates an error on the 7th Masterverb, which is half that of older boards like the Asus P5K or the even older Asus P4C800. It does seem stable though.
Thinking about upgrading ...

that is really good news!
i'm looking forward to a good result in actual use...
Hmm, it may not turn out to be quite as good as first results suggested. Now that I've done a new install of Scope 5.1 I'm getting around 6 instances of Masterverb before the PCI bandwidth capacity error. I can add a ...

Re: B75 Motherboard arriving next week
I'm going to try my three Pulsar 2 cards and my Yamaha SW1000XG.
I used to have SW1000XG - how do you use it in conjunction with Scope ?
Well, I route from one of the Pulsar analogue outputs to the input of the SW1000XG and from the outs on the SW1000xg back to the Pulsar analogue inputs. I can ...

Re: B75 Motherboard arriving next week
Right, I've rebuilt my DAW with a Gigabyte GA-P75-D3/I5 Sandybridge and done a quick in place XP install so the drivers were all still on the original hard drive. I installed Scope 5.1 and copied my original Scope folder over the new install (I usually do this if I reinstall so it keeps my settings ...

I would replace the motherboard battery before the power supply.

B75 Motherboard arriving next week
Hi everyone
I just thought I'd post to say that I've taken a bit of a gamble and ordered a Gigabyte GA-P75-D3 motherboard. It's a B75 chipset with four native PCI sockets, into which I'm going to try my three Pulsar 2 cards and my Yamaha SW1000XG. I'll be taking my i5-2500 processor and 4GB ram ...

Re: STDM connection error
I was having problems with lost sync. I did all the cleaning tricks; pencil eraser, isopropanol etc, but I also had some alcohol impregnated card reader cleaning cards that I cut to size to fit into the pci slots and STDM cable sockets. I inserted them a few times and I've had no problems for a year ...

Re: Connecting s/pdif of a device with no external clock syn
I noticed a few years ago that if I set my Yamaha 01V mixer to be the master clock the sound is noticably improved over the Scope clock.

Re: dual XP OS
just a question: why don't you use removable bays ?
it's simple with SATA disks, as you don't need the enclosure anymore - I found this most convenient.
cheers, Tom
Two reasons for me - 1. My hard drives are in silent enclosures in my rack mount PC and b. My primary OS is on one hard drive and ...

Re: dual XP OS
Before installing the OS on the second disk I would change the boot disk in the bios then try to boot from it. It should fail to boot because there is no OS. This will verify that when you install the OS it will actually write the new MBR to the second disk and not just overwrite the primary.

Re: dual XP OS
It is indeed a small world. All things considered I think I'd rather be in Oz than Northampton.
Using the bios to switch boot drives you would have two separate independent OS's. Cloning would make both OS installations identical so if you need to have a stripped down install and a full install you ...

Re: dual XP OS
The HAL is the Hardware Abstraction Layer that is created at initial install time. It's based on the hardware available on your motherboard, memory maps etc. There isn't really a way to replace it without reinstalling. However, sometimes the HAL is not loaded properly if there is a slight change ...

Re: It is probably time to upgrade my PC
I went from an Asus P4C800-E Deluxe with P4-3.2 Northwood to the P5K with E8400 and the difference is amazing. I can throw tons of plugins at it with barely a flicker of CPU usage where I used to get to 70% with pops and crackles quite quickly. With my 18DSPs and this setup I don't think I'll ever ...

Re: It is probably time to upgrade my PC
You should be aware that modern motherboards don't use the same PCI technology as older ones. PCI is now tacked on to the PCI-Express bus.
