Re: Considering buying a MiniMax ASB: Sound, bugs, stability?

The Solaris.. oh man.. That's gonna be an awesome synth.
If I could afford one too, I would get a Solaris in a heartbeat. The specs on that synth are just way off the charts.. :)

Many thanks for your input. I will look more closely at the SE-1!

Re: Considering buying a MiniMax ASB: Sound, bugs, stability?

Thanks for your reply, sounds like we're on the same page. I'm digging your mp3, nice music! The synthbass definately has that digital quality, but when the lead sound started...oh yeah. :) I've always been a bit sceptical towards the SE-1. In the recordings I've heard it used, it just kinda left me...

Considering buying a MiniMax ASB: Sound, bugs, stability?

Hi! I'm currently looking into buying a MiniMax ASB. I actually used to own a Minimoog Voyager a few years ago, but ended up selling it. Now, after taking a few years break from playing and composing, I'm looking into a buying a "moog" again. (duh!) I can't stand most VAs as they IMO lack ...

Amazing synth. Congratulations to John Bowen for making "the next step" for VA (and beyond) synths. This is going to a mindbending instrument. My deepest gratitude to John for making the kind of keyboard I've been dreaming of for years, but never have been able to buy - because it didn't e...

FS: Pulsar2 system w/ huge collection of plugins going cheap

Hi! I live in Norway, and have a pulsar2 system with a large collection of plugins that I want to sell. I've lost my interest in composing music on computers, so for the last 3 years the cards havn't been used at all. I'll sell all this for 550 euros.. As far as plugins: all the mixers, effects and ...

Thanks for the responses, and no I'm not starting an ARP vs. Moog war. I love both synths/sound signatures.. :)
So the Prodessy with the low-pass moogfilter gives big, boomy leads/basses - similiar to the minimax?
Thanks!

Which ASB to get - Minimax or Prodessey?

Hi! I have a couple of pulsar2 cards which I used to work with a few years ago, but they've collecting dust at home now unfortunately. I did play around with both minimax and prodessey quite a bit, but it's difficult to remember the difference in sound. Basically, I'm a big ELP fan, so that should m...

Thanks for the info.
I guess I'll go for the ASB version of minimax anyway, as I need the knobs for live use.

Still, you haven't answered my questions, if the patch changes are instantanious, and if the minimax asb is bugfree now.
that would be appreciated!
Thanks!

Hi! I'm thinking of buying a Minimax ASB or klangbox for live purposes - and I'm wondering about patch changes. Do they happen instantaniously or is there a delay - I need something that reacts quickly... Will the klangbox work as an ASB, only having the plugin on an computer as the controller? Can ...

Interesting thread. What I REALLY would love to see is a 4-octave keyboard that looks very good and is very portable (something like a nord lead with some wood maybe?) and the combined dsp code of prodessey, minimax and pro1. That would be the ultimate VA without a single doubt in my mind... Apart f...

Thanks for the answers!

I was experimenting with the Minimax again (software), running it through a tube preamp - and man does it sound great. It's good to have these ASB boxes for those that don't want to deal with drifty, big and heavy minimoogs (me)...

Hi! I'm thinking of buying a used Minimax ASB. It's three months old and it's only sat in a studio. However, I have always been careful with buying a very new product (one of the first production models). There seems that there is always something wrong with those early models. Since this minimax AS...

I tried demos of the tassman stuff (ultimate analog and modular), and didn't like it at all. I thought a real voyager (the only analog keyboard I've played in real life) sounded infinitely better. It just sounded thin and digital in my ears...oh, well... Maybe I didn't give it enough time......

Interesting comments! I definately agree with Ken and Hubrid and the others here, that its the end result that counts. However, if one is after an authentic analog sounding (digital) synth, and find joy in playing with that - then of course one would like to have something that sounds as close to th...

It seems we agree on this one! AFAIK the only plugin that actually sounds better than Creamware's option is Emagic's EVB3. This is IMO the best hammond clone on the market. It sounds superior to Electro, VK-8, B4 and even B2003. It's a bit funny though, because I'm not that impressed with th...

Hi! I never use VSTs, but I'm thinking of buying one or two because I want to use my laptop as a soundmodule. I already use the excellent EVB3 plugin in LogicPro7. So I downloaded Minimonsta and Oddity (tried them in logic pro5.51), and was expecting something fairly decent but I was soooo disappoin...

Hm.. I just experimented with several older Creamware and 3rd parties synths, and there was a very noticeable difference between 44,1 and 96 khz! I even could tell the difference on the Prodyssey in many cases, especially in high register with FM etc. it was easy to hear a difference. I assume that ...

Hmmm, they should definately improve on the percussion (esp. in the highest octave), and also make the sound a bit more versatile (being able to get a more hard and aggressive sound). Then again, I've been spoiled by the EVB3. <font size=-1>[ This Message was edited by: music251 on 2005-12-3...
