Re: Pulsar II & PowerSampler...still worth it?

Thanks for the quick reply Mr A! :)

Good to know that the cards will still work in this day & age...I was always worried about the allkeys registration procedure and how I might fare if the product were no longer supported.

Would like an Xite-1 myself but the price... :o

As I am on the lookout ...

Pulsar II & PowerSampler...still worth it?

Hi there,

After many years of not using my Creamware cards my interest has being rekindled...haven't been here in a long time and noticed from my CP that I joined PlanetZ 10 years ago!

In an old PC I still have my PowerSampler & Pulsar II and was wondering if it was worth resurrecting them again ...

Hi Tom,

Even if I had gone down the 'erase & rebuild' road I would still have had the 5 plug-ins that I generated for the PowerSampler archived on my server, backed up to tape & burned to CD-ROM along with each & every version of allkeys.skf that I have ever downloaded.

This was done purely for ...

Well I finally made it...eventually.

The _ONLY_ way I could install SFP 4.0 under W2K or WinXP on my system was to uninstall SFP 3.1c first.

Once this was done using the Uninstall option from the Scope menu I had to manually delete the SFP folder from the root.

I started the SFP 4.0 installer and ...

Hi Tom,

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

Yes I have paid the (IMHO) extortionate fee of 55 Euros to transfer _MY OWN_ plug-ins from _MY OWN_ PowerSampler board to _MY OWN_ Pulsar2 on _MY OWN_ computer in _MY OWN_ studio...

I would have little problem with the fee if I were selling the plug ...

Hi Gary,

Thanks for the reply - I have tried them all to no avail...

The devices in the latest allkeys.skf after I registered the Pulsar2 so it appears on My Page as Registered Hardware looks like this;

# LTC9A0M0X Poison
# LTC9A0M0X SCOPE 4.0 Software
# LTC9A0M0X Pulsar Software
# LTC9A0M0X ...

I recently replaced my PowerSampler with a Pulsar2 after first uninstalling the PowerSampler hardware from Device Manager in W2K.

I rebooted with the Pulsar2 and installed the new drivers - Pulsar2 is then
recognised in Device Manager and SFP 3.1c loads and recognizes the Pulsar2.

Obviously my ...

Well I had an attack of conscience yesterday and emailed Creamware explaining that I had originally struggled to receive my registration keys but when I did I was able to download more than one plug-in at half-price.

The reply I got was;

"Hallo,

aufgrund der hohen Serverbelastung kann es momentan ...

Shouldn't really mention this but...

When I activated my key over the weekend after waiting hours for the key to arrive (and then it arrived twice) I activated it and went to the shop where I bought the Minimax at 50% off.

I also bought Vocodizer at full price (wish I hadn't now but ...

Thanks for the replies.

Seems like it is best to go down the ADAT connection road then.

The Creamware card just keeps getting better & better...

Kind regards,

Hello again,

Sorry if my rekindled interest in Creamware results in more stupid questions but...;^)

Looking at the Pulsar II I see it has an ADAT I/O connection.

As I have a Yamaha 01V mixer I was wondering if it were possible to connect the Pulsar II to the Yamaha 01V if fitted with the optional ...

Thanks for the replies guys...

The main reason for getting the Pulsar II was of course the 6 DSP's...but the secondary consideration was in my current setup with my PowerSampler I have no free PCI slots left.

I so very nearly bought a 4 DSP SRB earlier today but of course it would have meant ...

Hopefully tomorrow I will be buying a used Pulsar II complete with Pro-Pack.

I am told this comes with sts 3000, lightwave, modular 3,etc.

What else should come as standard with this package?

The Classic I/O was mentioned - what exactly does this include?

I just want to make sure that everything ...

I have read that the Creamware cards have poor MIDI I/O but can anyone out there please run me through setting up an SFP Project suitable for use with Sounddiver?

Having read the looong list of questions I posted yesterday in a thread called PowerSampler 1 questions I thought it would be easier to read/reply if I split all those questions into shorter, more relevant posts

Well I tried posting to the pulsar-scope mailing list yesterday but being impatient I am trying here also!

I purchased a second hand Powersampler 1 and re-registered it on the Creamware website.

I also purchased SFP v3.1a, installed it and updated to v3.1c - the SFP v3.1b CD-ROM arrived from ...
