Re: Freq to V/Oct

Just to be clear that what I'm asking in this topic has nothing to do with outputs. I use Expert Sleepers to send CV to my Eurorack modules. That is working great and no converter modules needed (unless I would like to generate pitch CV from Scope of course). The problem is that DAWs cannot directly...

Re: Freq to V/Oct

Still bumping in to this issue all the time, and they way I work with my current setup nowadays I have ended up using Scope much less because of it. If I want to include Scope oscillators in a patch I have to start the with a Silent Way Voice Controller, and can only use scope oscillators in that pa...

Re: Suddenly getting PCI Master Overflow

Got the ungrounded splitters and connected everything up. At first I thought I missed to plug something in, because even when turning everything up full it was dead quiet. Before I used to hear a little hiss at max levels. So probably will not bother pulling in ground since it seems perfect without....

Re: Suddenly getting PCI Master Overflow

Sorry Valid, not a competition, just defending the Swedes a bit against accusations that the way we deal with electricity is mad and unintelligent :) Very interesting neblefuerst! So you got the copyright protection error as well...I assume it was with a grounded system? In that case maybe getting g...

Re: Suddenly getting PCI Master Overflow

Just explaining how it is here. In our defense we cannot be getting it that wrong, We might have crazy wiring in your eyes, but the US has like 15 times more deaths from electrocution per capita compared to Sweden ;P

Re: Suddenly getting PCI Master Overflow

pulling wires does not require opening the walls, usually. are you saying the the lines are grounded from the central power office? no. there is an earthing rod for the building, or should be. i looked up the Swedish regulations. Like I said, cables run outside the walls. There is no opening of wal...

Re: Suddenly getting PCI Master Overflow

@gary Good examples of the cultural differences in the US. In new buildings in Sweden we pull wires in tubes, but in old buildings I have never seen it. We pull it along the walls. And often it ends up under the wallpaper. So actually pulling new wires is not what is costly and a lot of work, it is ...

Re: Suddenly getting PCI Master Overflow

I already concluded that it doesn't happen with the speaker disconnected, and it "solved" the issue reversing the main plug for that speaker. But if they share the "ground" (which is not connected to earth but just going between the equipment in the splitter) turning off the spea...

Re: Suddenly getting PCI Master Overflow

It doesn’t invalidate insurance when you have somebody do it professionally. In any case, I presumed there were other components in your studio besides just the speaker and the Xite And so I provided some links that may be of some use, I’m giving no specific instruction because I also presume that ...

Re: Suddenly getting PCI Master Overflow

In Sweden it is illegal to run your own ground or have anything connected to ground close to things not connected to ground. If anything happens it would make me liable and invalidate insurance. And it is actually dangerous...with completely ungrounded it is very unlikely that you will carry much cu...

Re: Suddenly getting PCI Master Overflow

Thanks for the informative answers. @valis I'm familiar with how to handle grounding issues in systems with ground connected. Both from engineering studies and experience. But I'm obviously a bit clueless about the scenario where there are no ground at all...we didn't cover it in class and I haven't...

Re: Suddenly getting PCI Master Overflow

Yeah, I'm suspecting the speakers as well considering the loud pop I had when turning off. And nothing indicates that the is an issue with the power in the house...it is not great that it is not grounded, but the problematic current goes in the ground which is only connected to the devices connected...

Re: Suddenly getting PCI Master Overflow

Yes, there is a GFI in the system, so should not be a hazard. But of course feels dodgy with interaction through ground on the equipment with third prong causing malfunctions, so I do have some concern if it is safe for the equipment to have it connected like that. But with no ground connected anywh...

Re: Suddenly getting PCI Master Overflow

That cannot be strictly true though. A lot of equipment nowadays have no ground connection. And at least in Sweden it is not at all uncommon with ungrounded outlets in dry rooms, which accept grounded plugs. So running for example a computer which comes with ground connection in an ungrounded outlet...

Re: Suddenly getting PCI Master Overflow

What monitors? Which connection on the monitors and what type of cable? Tannoy Reveal 802 connected with XLR. According to the manual it says it should be connected to a grounded outlet, but it has the icon for double isolated appliance on the back indicating that it should be safe to use with a un...

Re: Suddenly getting PCI Master Overflow

So problem seems to be there is no actual ground connection. The equipment is connected to ground sockets, but only share ground with eachother. Tested blocking ground on the speaker and the issue disappears. I have a surge protector, but not sure if it does much good when not connected to ground. I...

Re: Suddenly getting PCI Master Overflow

So if I do not connect Xite to the speaker, either directly via XLR, or via mixer, I can switch on and off speakers without getting an error.
Definitely some current going the wrong path somewhere :(

Re: Suddenly getting PCI Master Overflow

It seems like when I have one of my Speakers on I get the issue. With the other speaker I also get the error "copy protection violation" from scope if I turn on or off the speaker. I reconnected the other speaker, reversing the mains cable, and now it works again. I did get an unusually lo...

Re: Suddenly getting PCI Master Overflow

So this strange issue is not over yet it seems. S|C decided to send me a unit for lending until RMA was handled, but when plugging in my unit back in it was magically working again. Really unsure what to write it up to since I tested in on two different machines getting the same error, but I told th...
