hi, maybe the problem i have is related to that acpi/std mode issue... 1st of all here's my config:
ASUS p4t-e pIV 1,6...
riva TNT2 32MB
pulsar II sfp 3.1a
symbios dual SCSI
1 scsi CD-ROM
1 scsi CD-rec
2 (U)ATA seagate HDs
2 (U)ATA WD HDs

i've followed all the hints of subHuman...
...standard pc ...

gonna do my next win2000 installation with the hints of subhuman - thanks by the way...

my system:
P4 1.6/256MB/ASUS P4T-E/TNT2/3COM 100MBit

my problem:
SFP3.1a just 'disappears' after doing some sound-prog-installs.
i reinstalled about 5 or 6 times now and it's always the same - i tried installing the progs it in different order, like:
1. win2000-SFP3.1a-cubaseSX-reason-VSTis ...

question 2: connect the wave-device to the mixer (is done automatically in 3.1)

hope you didn't buy a pulsar for winamp ...
... that would be ambitious as well ... in a way

another thing....

what changes appear using XTC-mode??
or is it not recommendable at all???

i got
Pulsar2(3.1a)@Win2000Pro/Cubase SX and
Terratec DMX6fire,EWX24/96@windows2000Pro/SX
(both with D I/O SP/DIF + DMX6fire coaxial out)

when you wanna start the installation of 3.1 or 3.01 and nothing happens remember that pulsar usually doesn't work when there's any other soundcard mounted... just a hint, i had the same problem the very first time ...

as well i might have run out of HD-bandwith - i got one seagate 7200rpm 20 gb for OS/Progs and Maxtor 5400rpm 20gb for audio data - but i think they both hold streams above 2megs/s

remains the question about the MoBo: might it be worth to wait until 533MHz FSB is available on i850E ...

... i think i could afford a PIV 1.6 GHz (Northwood) with Abit i850 MoBo and 256MB/PC800 would this solve my problem?
or is an ASUS to prefer? AGP Grafx card is no question...

just bought a pulsar II and experienced the well known problems with a via/athlon700MHz/256MB combination: with 14(mono)-channels in cubase 5.1 and 2 stereo(XTC)compressors my system is freaking and it sounds like playing an "old record" - i still got my BX/400MHzPIII/256MB system -
