Re: Scope Lite Rackmount for Live Guitar

GaryB once mentioned they sold a lot of Scope system just for running the PT Reverbs back in the Creamware days. I don't mind the (techical) quality of a reverb/delay but HOW it melts with the source (or what acoustic scenery it creates). If your PT is a perfect match for your guitar sound, then tha...

Re: Scope Lite Rackmount for Live Guitar

ok, I admit I had the traditional rock gig in mind when I wrote the text above... If you have the gear and locations for better audio, that's great. I also keep the PT2016 for it's special character, as the UM1280 Delay/Reverb (hoping it will get extended one day...), Celmo's Vintage Delay and Tape ...

Re: Analog Outs on A16U

I second transformers (if good ones) - and have the very same experience with my bass (practice) headphone amp.
The Audient ID22 has a fine instrument input and 1st class monitor section, but pales in comparison to the vintage broadcast module and it's output transformer.

Re: Scope Lite Rackmount for Live Guitar

The PT2032 is a very nice reverb, but tbh it would be a challenge to detect it's character in any regular live venue context. Most PAs and rooms will simply swallow the details. I have only the 2016 myself (unfortunately) because the larger ones didn't run on my single Pulsar One back then. But thes...

Re: My A16 Ultra's going to trash..

... is it the original power supply, if not which power supply do you advise me to use? Original or not doesn´t matter. For A16U you need output AC 12V / 1.5A. For my S|C "blackface" A16U I have AC 12V 1.6A and for my CW A16U there´s a much more bulky AC 12V / 3.5A. Both work. An AC powersupply is ...

Re: New DAW with old Scope SP card - or not?

The only weak spot in Scope PCI is the transfer of delay/reverb buffers between DSPs and memory, leading to the infamous PCI overflow error. It's not as bad today as it was for a while, but the performance of the old BX and 965 chipsets will probably never be reached again. I gave up fairly early an...

Re: XITE-1 PC CONFIGURATION REFERENCE

A little off-topic here, but I'm wondering where are the "low-hanging" gains to run VST stuff more capably/efficiently? In my own use-case I run a modest i5 processor (four core 3.2 GHz) with a fairly modest graphics card. Some things run blazingly fast even with multiple instances while other thin...

Re: Weird device surfaces

... I have found his Ison EQ very useful in situations where I needed to rapidly audition some EQ schemes. It's more powerful than it looks, and a close reading of the manual is needed to get the best out of it. It's also kind of weird looking, but not as weird as some of his other stuff. I rarely ...

Re: Flickering meters on a16 ultra

The significant detail is ALL channel meters lit up, which is typical for re-syncing the unit.
Unfortunately this can be triggered by hardware and software failures equally, but it points away from the signal section of the box.

Re: racktion eNews - Waveform to the Power of Pi

Recently aquired one of those PI thingies on flea market for a tenner, mostly because it had the same CPU as my iPad.
Thinking: maybe gets me into ARM coding... but then reading all the Linux (sorry) rubbish and almost lost interest.
But hardware costs are ridiculously low atm.

Re: [resolved] uncluttered switching Live and ASIO sources, or ASIO-like VDAT

definitely useful thinking... about the quick Scope live scenario versus the (in my case, too) unsolved recording setup.
In all those years still not solved, blame it to Mr. Lazy, who's attention is drawn away by 'sound' ever so often :D

Re: Levels For Powered Cabinets

Level doesn't matter (much) for a quality cabinet - it will react similiar on low and high volumes. But your ears won't be as trustworthy: their natural freqquency response is loudness depending. So the same cabinet will appear to sound different at different volumes ;) Some guitar cabinets may soun...

Or it's simply because 4 cards is pushing the hardware beyond what was feasible when this technology was current.
Afaik PCI busses are grouped in '3 slot units', sometimes 2 busses were fully exposed (6 slot design), but later a single external bus was more common, hence the 3 cards maximum.

Re: RME raydat AND scope connected together!

The main 'feature' of the pre-HDSP RME cards (Digi series) is the lack of a kernel streaming driver.
They work fine with Asio, though - but no system sound of most streaming services and similiar.

... The real deal sounds best, where "best" might be matter of taste too. For sure it does for the "programs" they created for multisamples and the original hardware. I compared some EMU stuff from my ESI imported into STS. It transfers only the pure waveform, but skips any tweaks for filter, envel...
