Re: "Cannot start software because board or driver..." displayed
After reading my message from May 2019, it seems that the "not hot swappable" part of that is what the problem is. I did not shut down and restart my PC with the Xite-1D powered on. Dumb me. The first time I did this, the Scope software came up ok, but it displayed an error message about &...

"Cannot start software because board or driver..." displayed
My Xite-1D was working fine for quite awhile, and I had problems with the HDMI cable on the PC end. It somehow got whacked and really bent. I did manage to install a new HDMI cable from the Xite-1D box to the Scope PC card connector. Nothing seemed damaged. Now, when I try to bring up the Scope soft...

Re: from out of left field ... now with M1 chips, what about Scope 7.1 availability?
Yes, Gary, the Apple chips have no immediate bearing on PCs, but since they must be Intel compatible, with their extra performance (that we have seen so far) won't people want to find a way to use them with Windows? I dunno, just asking. I doubt Apple will sell the chips alone, though. I stand ready...

from out of left field ... now with M1 chips, what about Scope 7.1 availability?
Just checking in to see if I get my head lopped off for bringing up Scope 7.1. Gee, I love this hardware, software, dev kit, and just would like to see it keep going as long as possible. But, the new Apple "M" series chips are a reality for all Mac users who will ever upgrade. Cheers! Jame...

Re: comparable audio quality
Hi garyb, When you say "the XITE certainly has VERY high quality AD/DA...", I can only say, "that is what I thought". 😁 I was just checking to see what others experience had been, if there were any issues, and what they think about using the XITE-1 in general. I think most owners...

Re: comparable audio quality
Hi garyb, Thanks for the reply. I definitely don't have a world class monitoring system, and how well tuned my room is varies a lot since I am still working things out. They use a lot of Apogee gear in the recording industry, and if the Xite-1 and 1D AD/DAs are competitive with it, then that is more...

Re: comparable audio quality
I certainly did not know the BNC input(s) were not functional on the Xite-1 hardware. I was kind of thinking of having a master clock at some point. Burl seems to make good stuff. I don't own any, but they consistently get good reviews and lots of studios have Burl gear. Maybe garyb can jump in here...

comparable audio quality
Hi, Has anyone made any comparisons between the Xite-1 and other I/O gear as to where it sits in audio performance? By that, I mean how well does the D/A conversion work versus stand alone DACs of good quality? Comparisons to any DACs would be welcome. I have half a dozen DACs, more if I include aud...

Thanks Gary and Dante, as always, you are both very helpful!
BTW, Gary, when I play, it sounds like trash anyway.

Best choices for 96k digital input
Hi all, Can anyone tell me the options on an Xite-1D to get a 96k digital stream into the Xite? It looks to me like there is: 1.) convert stream to AES/EBU to connect to that port, 2.) SPDIF/Optical/ADAT (very uninformed about this), or, 3.) convert to analog and simply connect to the balanced analo...

"... it's working"
Three cheers to that !!
The more I use the Scope / Xite system, the more I appreciate just how cool it truly is.
And again, thanks to garyb, valis, and all you helpful forum members.

Re: Anyone getting installation error from just having Xite-1D turned off for awhile?
Hi all,
Ok, thanks for the help, but "Never mind...", as Roseanne Roseannadanna would say.
Just a loose cable that I thought I had checked as being OK, but it obviously wasn't.
This is a great forum, BTW. And, garyb, I don't know how you do all that you do.

Re: Anyone getting installation error from just having Xite-1D turned off for awhile?
Hi garyb,
Yes, the Xite-1D green power light is on. No, I have not tried another HDMI cable yet. I will do that today or tomorrow.
I will also check inside the PC to make sure the PCIe card for the Xite is plugged in securely and correctly.
Thanks again!

Re: Anyone getting installation error from just having Xite-1D turned off for awhile?
Thank you, garyb. I followed your advice and restarted the whole process. In other words, I shut down my PC and Xite-1D, then powered on my Xite, waited about 30 seconds, then powered on the PC (Windows 10). Once I could log in, I went to the Windows applications menu and selected Scope Xite. Once S...

Anyone getting installation error from just having Xite-1D turned off for awhile?
I had my Xite-1D turned off for about a month, and when I turned it back on, I couldn't get Scope to load. It kept giving me the following in a pop-up window: Installation Error Cannot start software because board(s) or driver not properly installed. Please check the installation. and this is follow...
